ABOUT THE ROLE

Provide legal advice and representation to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including minor assistance and casework service, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies and guidelines in order to contribute to the implementation of Legal Aid NSW's mission to deliver high quality legal services to our clients and to assist them to resolve their legal problems.
 
ABOUT YOU

You will be an enthusiastic and committed team member able to conduct an effective and efficient criminal law practice. Your role includes providing high quality criminal law advice, minor assistance and casework services to disadvantaged clients. You should be able to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and to work effectively and efficiently in a high pressure environment.
Ideally you will have some criminal law and advocacy experience. Experience before the State Parole Authority is not essential – training will be provided in relation to the specialist jurisdiction.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
 
• Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW 
 
• Ability to provide a valid Practising Certificate upon commencement
 
• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check
 
• Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, or Australian Permanent resident  is an essential requirement of applying for an Ongoing role

• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement

This role is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander recruitment under Part 5, clause 26 of the Government Sector Employment (General) rules 2014. The selection process will include a range of comparative assessment techniques to assist in determining capability and suitability for the role.

This recruitment will be used to fill any current vacancies and may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future ongoing and temporary vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months.
