ABOUT LEGAL AID NSW

 
Legal Aid NSW is the largest legal aid agency in Australia, comprising of a Central Sydney office and 25 regional offices in metropolitan and regional centres across NSW and a number of specialist services and advice clinics. Working at Legal Aid NSW provides the opportunity to support people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women and children, Indigenous people and people with mental illness who may experience difficulties when enforcing and defending their rights.

 

The Disability Royal Commission Legal Services (DRCLS) has been established to assist people to engage with the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (the Royal Commission). It will provide legal advice, information and assistance to members of the public wanting to engage with the Royal Commission. It will be an independent, trauma-informed and culturally safe service delivered nationally using best practice standards and a human rights approach. It will work in partnership with NATSILS and collaborate and consult with key stakeholders including peak organizations representing people with disabilities and community legal centres. 

The DRCLS is a project of National Legal Aid (NLA) and established based on a consortium of Legal Aid Commissions in all States and Territories. It incorporates a central coordinating team and legal advisory team, both of which are based in Legal Aid NSW; and a National Helpline based in Legal Aid Queensland.

Manage key partnership and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the Disability Royal Commission Legal Service (DRCLS).

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will be someone who has a very good working knowledge of the disability and legal services sector. Also experience and expertise in managing a diverse range of relationships and has excellent communication skills.  

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check

 

• Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid working visa 

 

• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Disability Sector

1. What experience or existing networks do you have working within the disability services sector, or what would your approach be to establishing and developing these networks?  

 

2. Outline your experience managing stakeholder relationships  

The selection process will include a range of comparative assessment techniques to assist in determining capability and suitability for the role.

This recruitment will be used to fill any current vacancies and may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months.
