The PM&C Regional Network leads engagement with Indigenous communities, other stakeholders to drive outcomes in three policy areas of lifting education outcomes, improving employment and economic opportunities and ensuring safer communities. 

The Adviser role is located in Cairns in the Network Region of Far North Queensland (FNQ). The FNQ Region has a broad and diverse geographical footprint including Greater Cairns Region, Atherton Tablelands, Yarrabah, Cassowary Coast and the remote Indigenous communities of Cape York. 

Network Advisers work with Indigenous communities and service providers within a community or cluster of communities to achieve positive results against the Australian Government’s Indigenous Affairs priorities. Advisers are results-oriented and possess strong communication and engagement skills. The role facilitates collaboration and productive working relationships with and between service providers, Indigenous leaders and communities at the local level to further improve service delivery outcomes, solve delivery challenges and build on opportunities for collaboration and positive impact. The Adviser requires a strong understanding of the range of current programmes and services being delivered to their community and identify other possibilities to drive outcomes and positive impact in the context of a transformational agenda to develop communities.

Advisers report to a Team Leader and may oversee staff. They are responsible for PMC work in assigned communities. 

Travel including overnight stays is required and a current driver’s licence is necessary. Extensive remote travel by four wheel drive vehicle or light aircraft will be required. Accredited four wheel drive will be provided.
