About Us
The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) has one simple purpose – to improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With the diversity of Indigenous Australia, this is harder than it sounds.
We work to the Minister for Indigenous Australians, The Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP, and across the entire Australian Government, with State and Territory counterparts, peak bodies and service providers, and Indigenous communities to ensure that Indigenous policies and programs are delivering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
We focus on relationships and our own cultural capability to ensure we have a strong place-based approach that is responsive and respectful to the communities with which we work.
We partner with community to ensure our policy and delivery programs reflect the characteristics and the needs of a place to achieve maximum impact.
