We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Child, Youth and Family Worker for our Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS) program – CONNECT. The FMHSS Program assists children and young people, with emerging mental health issues, and their families, to improve their mental health outcomes later in life.

This role will provide case work, therapeutic group work and community support services to children, young people and their families. This position is based in Wyong and may require travel to other locations, when required.

This position has been identified role requiring an Aboriginal worker to work closely with the local community and support the Organisation through the provision of information and advice related to working with Aboriginal communities.

Key Requirements:

  1. Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander background required – Interrelate considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
  2. Experience working with and understanding of mental illness; having an understanding of the impact that emerging mental illness can have on a person's life, their families and children (particularly people with complex needs and high levels of disadvantage), and a demonstrated understanding of client centred work and recovery oriented practice in a mental health framework
  3. Experience working with children, young people and families in a community welfare/ development/ case work role,  whilst maintaining a child/ young person focused approach
  4. Qualifications in psychology/ behavioural or social science/ social work/ children's services/ community services/ mental health or other related fields
  5. Case management experience, with the ability to coordinate flexible service delivery working within an individualised case management or care coordination framework
  6. Experience delivering therapeutic and educational group work programs to children, young people, parents and their families
