Together with our Alliance partner SA Water, Allwater is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater networks and associated assets throughout the Adelaide metropolitan area.

  • Permanent, Full Time Role

 

Allwater have a full-time, permanent Construction and Maintenance vacancy that we are now seeking internal and external applications for. This position will be based at the Northern Networks Depot (Hope Valley). Within the Networks Construction and Maintenance area, the successful candidate will be required to work across areas including Mains Repairs, Mains Digup, Choke Connections, Sewer Cleaning and Boundary Works. The successful candidate will work 7.6 hour days across a 7 day roster, participate in a 7-day on-call roster and receive 5 weeks of Annual Leave. This role will suit applicants who have experience in a similar role, are keen/fast learners and enjoy having variety in their daily work. 
 
Working closely with the Network Supervisors, Field Coordinators and Network Technicians, successful candidates will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Reactive and preventative maintenance for wastewater mains, connections and related activities
  • Reactive and preventative maintenance on water mains, water services including water meter replacement and repairs at the meter
  • Shut-off and charging of water mains and the operation of fire plugs and hydrants
  • Location and adjustment of castings and inspections points 
  • Clean-up following burst mains and wastewater overflows 
  • Liaising with the public, as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Upholding a safe work environment and contributing towards a positive ‘safety’ culture 
  • Ensuring work is carried out with regard to accepted work practices, safety and environmental standards, key and specific performance indicators and timelines and ESCOSA requirements

 

To be considered for these roles, the following qualifications/licences/skills will be highly regarded:
Full Australian Driver’s License (Essential)

  • Heavy Combination (HC) or Heavy Rigid (HR) License (Essential)
  • Front End Loader and Tipper (Highly desirable)
  • Backhoe and Excavator (Highly desirable) 
  • Skills in the use of Marco, valve keys, freezing unit, inlet/outlet risers, meters and stopcock (Desirable)
  • White Card (Highly desirable)
  • Work Zone Traffic Management (Highly desirable)
  • Jet Rodder (Highly desirable)
  • Construction or Civil works experience (Desirable)
  • Use of construction equipment experience (Desirable)

 

To be considered, you will possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, which will enable you to foster positive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Having excellent communication skills will stand you in good stead to be able to deal face to face with customers, explain the nature of works and provide exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, have a safety focused mindset and ability to work as a team. Applicants will need to be prepared to work outdoors and with wastewater.
