The filling of this employment opportunity is intended to constitute a 'special measure' under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975. This employment opportunity is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to support Defence achievement of the Council of Australian Governments' target for 3 percent representation by 2018.  As per the eligibility requirements outlined in this information pack, proof of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage is required from all applicants.

As a Deputy Director Strategic Engagement and in partnership with research division management teams, you will be responsible for identifying, establishing, building and managing collaborative, commercialisation and strategic research relationships with industry, academia and other public funded research agencies.

You will leverage these research relationships to optimise and increase available resources for the collaboration and commercialisation of science and technology which will contribute to the research capability of DST Group and to enhance defence capability.

The position will also have a role in mentoring DST Group research division staff to provide high level policy and specialist support for industry engagement, intellectual property and commercial interactions, including the preparation and negotiation of agreements through to the execution phase.
