About You
The Early Childhood Assistant is responsible:
* To work as team member to provide high quality care to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of individuals and groups of children.
* To contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for individuals and groups of children in conjunction with other staff.
* To meet a high quality standard of care in line with the principles of the Children's Services Act 1996, Children's Services regulations 2009, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD) and the Centre's philosophy and mission statement.
* To build and maintain close relationships with parents of the children in the centre, through constant communication, to meet the needs of individual families
To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:
* Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education
* Current working with children check
* Level 2 First aid Anaphylaxis and Asthma training
* Excellent knowledge of the Children's Services Act 1996, Children's Services regulations 2009, The National Quality framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development (VELYLD) and the Centre's philosophy and mission statement.
* A thorough knowledge of children's development and ability to contribute to observation, planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate children's programs.
* Flexibility, both within the room and according to the needs of the Centre as a whole.
* Well developed Interpersonal skills.
* Ability to co-operatively contribute to and support a team environment.
* Ability to work co-operatively and respect families from diverse cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
* Willingness to participate in in-service programs, staff development programs and staff meetings.

About the Portfolio
The Students Portfolio is responsible for identifying, planning and implementing services that meet the needs and aspirations of RMIT's different student groups. It consists of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Academic Registrar's Group, the Student Services Group and RMIT Union.
Staff within the Portfolio work closely with the Colleges, academic and teaching staff and associated entities to lead the core activities of the University that relate to the student lifecycle. In doing so, the Portfolio identifies improvements to enhance student life and facilitates positive student experiences of RMIT.
