About You

Drawing on your experience in the cultural/higher education sectors, you will have an interest in the role of cultural events in facilitating the exploration of ideas. You will have outstanding communication skills, allowing you to quickly integrate within your team and develop important stakeholder working relationships. To be successful in this role you will be an organised, creative and resilient person who has the ability to solve problems and efficiently deliver varied outcomes.
Position Summary
The Events and Engagement Officer, as a part of the RMIT Culture Partnered Projects and Engagement team, contributes to the implementation of RMIT Culture's programming strategy, which builds a creative and learning community across RMIT, alumni and supporters, creative industries, government, the education sector and the broader public. Reporting to the Manager, Partnered Projects and Engagement, the role supports the coordination and delivery of events, projects and key partnership activities and takes a lead role in event and project logistics, promotion, reporting and evaluation.
The role contributes to audience development and engagement by taking an active approach to building and engaging RMIT Culture's communities and coordinates communications for RMIT Culture across internal and external channels.
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
* Experience in the coordination of events, workshops and activities to build high levels of participation.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering projects in the creative industries, often simultaneously and to tight timeframes and budgets.
* Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders, and experience facilitating and nurturing partnerships.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, as well as the ability to liaise with management, staff and external organisations to establish effective professional relationships.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and re-adjust workload priorities to meet conflicting deadlines.
* Experience in digital communication and media and building engaged digital communities.
* Proven ability to use a wide range of systems, software and social platforms that will support the requirements of the role.
* Flexible working hours as required by the program, which may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.

PSI works to support and advance the implementation of RMIT's strategic priorities, including through public policy and government relations, strategy projects, innovative partnerships and capability development.

RMIT University is custodian of a comprehensive range of historic, new and specialist spaces and entities in the heart of Melbourne, across its northern suburbs and international campuses. The Public Engagement group (RMIT Culture)has broad responsibility to oversee RMIT University's cultural and publicly engaged sites and collections, and support the connection across teaching and research, partners and audience through the delivery of public engagement.
The Public Engagement group comprises the areas of specialisation across Galleries, Design and Innovation, Collections and Archives and Screen and Media that incorporates publicly engaged entities, precincts, spaces, collections, including academic and student galleries, science and technology showcases, and enterprise engagement.
