The Role

Broadspectrum has multiple vacancies for Field Supervisors (Civil / SDU / MDU) to join the organisation. The role will primarily involve the oversight and management of assigned construction activities, subcontractors, areas and stages of the NBN HFC project. You will be a self-motivated individual who takes pride in ensuring that project and subcontracted personnel are working in accordance with program and Company policies, systems and procedures.

Furthermore, you will:

  • Manage on site compliance with Broadspectrum Risk Management; Quality Assurance; and Health, Safety and Environment management (HSE) systems , including statutory obligations
  • Lead compliance to Broadspectrum Policies and Procedures and House Rules.
  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day site construction and administration activities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the site, including contractor support crews (eg traffic, Vacuum Trucks etc.).
  • Provide feedback to Construction Superintendents and Project Engineers for development of construction program and critical milestones.
  • Review the construction program on an on-going basis and discuss variances with the Construction Superintendents. 
  • Coordinate site activities and personnel for maximum performance and delivery.
  • Interpret drawings on site to ensure accuracy, practicality and compliance with specifications prior to construction commencement.
  • Review Subcontractor scopes of work to ensure an understanding of their agreed work activities and supply requirements.
  • Discuss and assist to plan work activities and target dates with subcontractors.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier performance and implement corrective action as required (i.e. direct communication or discussion with the Construction Manager or Contracts Administrator).
  • Perform inspections and complete checklists as required by systems implemented on the project.
  • Manage purchasing requirements in compliance with Company procedures.
  • Proactively manage industrial relations to ensure issues raised by workers are escalated and resolved quickly.
  • Ensure Trade Union representatives are managed in a professional manner in accordance with current legislation.
  • Preform and manage tasks associated with construction build, including but not limited to rod and roping, NDD, spit water, pit locating.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary and/or Trade qualifications in an applicable discipline (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Civils / SDU / MDU trades.
  • Knowledge of construction, project and program controls principles and practices (including budget).
  • Interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of HSE systems and processes.
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project.
  • White Card (CIC) (Construction Induction Card).
