The Smith Family is a national charity helping young Australians in need to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. As the Government Relations and Administrative Support Officer your role will be to provide support in the implementation and development of The Smith Family’s Government Relations Strategy and provide administrative support to the Research and Advocacy team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual who will bring to life The Smith Family uphold the values, while supporting the administration and implementation of The Smith Family’s government relations, research and advocacy work.
A day in the life the Government Relations and Administrative Support Officer might look like this, but really every day will be different:
- Supporting the implementation of The Smith Family’s Government Relations Strategy at both Commonwealth and State/Territory Government levels.
- Assisting in the development of briefing papers, note-for-records, related materials and collateral that supports the implementation of the strategy.
- Maintaining the scheduling of The Smith Family’s Government Relations engagement, and developing and maintaining a system that tracks such engagement.
- Developing and taking responsibility for administration processes that ensure the effective and efficient conduct of the Research and Advocacy team’s work.
- Assisting in the development of internal and external presentations.
It takes a special kind of person to be our Government Relations and Administrative Support Officer. You will have at least two years’ experience, in working in a large, fast paced organizational environment, with an undergraduate degree in a related discipline. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have highly developed organizational skills , a strong attention to detail and the capacity to understand diverse roles and relationships across Commonwealth/ State and Territory governments.
