About the Portfolio
The Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers and graduate researchers with research partnerships, grants and research contracts, funding opportunities, capability development, research training, ethics and integrity, intellectual property, commercialisation, internships, communication and profile. Research Partnerships and Translation sits within this Portfolio and supports and enables researchers to partner to achieve excellent research translation outcomes. The portfolio also oversees intellectual property capture, protection and commercialisation for the university
About the role
The IP Commercialisation Officer will support the actions and systems necessary to adequately protect RMIT's IP and translate RMIT's research assets into commercial outcomes. The role will have a particular emphasis on administration, data entry, inbox management, preparing reports, monitoring and managing deadlines and arranging for the signing of documents to support the development and commercial exploitation of RMIT's innovative technologies.
The IP Commercialisation Officer will also support and assist the IP Commercialisation team in building and maintaining strong internal and external networks with Research Colleges and Schools, Research and Innovation Portfolio, IP specialists, business development and technology transfer managers. This is an administration focused position and training will be provided in relation to specific IP and commercialisation knowledge.
To be successful in this position, you will be required to have the following:
* Identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
* Value working collaboratively, connecting and building relationships with people including a range of stakeholders.
* Experience with higher education, intellectual property, legal, accounting, finance or business sector administration.
* Ability to support processes and administration including data entry, preparing reports, managing deadlines, and arranging for signing of documents.
* Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work to various deadlines.
* Ability to undertake or willingness to learn about financial administration.
Qualifications
Essential: Qualifications in a relevant area of administration or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
Desirable: Experience at a patent, intellectual property legal or accounting firm, for example as a secretary, personal assistant or paralegal, or in the higher education sector would be highly regarded; qualifications in a relevant area such as science, engineering, business, accounting or law.
