Salary: $98,755 – $117,290 p.a. (Level B) (pro rata) or $120,993 – $139,510 p.a. (Level C) (pro rata), plus 17% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.
The Department of Rural Health (the Department) is based in Shepparton, but also conducts its activities in Ballarat, Wangaratta and many other locations. The Department’s funding comes predominately from Department of Health and Ageing, through two programs, the ‘Rural Clinical School (RCS) program’ and the ‘University Department of Rural Health program’, as well as several other smaller programs. The Department also provides clinical education in a rural environment in other professional disciplines in the Faculty (particularly Dental Science and Physiotherapy).
Located at the Department of Rural Health (DRH) campus in Ballarat, Victoria, you will be responsible for the delivery of teaching sessions appropriate to the specialty of medicine in the clinical years of the MD programmes. Directly responsible to the Deputy Director of Medical Student Education at the Rural Clinical School, Ballarat Shepparton Campus, you will be required to work closely with the Clinical School and the University, as well as the Clinical teachers at Shepparton and Wangaratta.
The co-location of the Rural Clinical School with the Deakin University Rural Clinical School has led to a high level of collaboration between the Clinical Schools. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Medicine will be expected to work within that collaborative framework.
Crucial to the success of the department are:
- The development and maintenance of good relationships with other health service providers
- The willingness of staff to collaboratively contribute to all activities of this relatively small department, rather than strictly confining themselves to a narrow definition of their role or a special academic interest.
