About the Role
The Lecturer in Media and Communications (Marketing and Communications) will coordinate and teach in the graduate and undergraduate programs of Media and Communications, with an emphasis on the Master of Marketing Communications. An ability to teach subjects related to marketing and strategic communications is essential. Other responsibilities include supervising honours, minor theses and PhD students. The Lecturer will be expected to have a strong track record of research and publications and the ability to contribute to the development of existing and future research projects, including participation as an investigator on ARC and/or externally funded research projects. The specific area of research focus is open, but an ability to complement and diversify existing research strengths in the Media and Communications Program is an advantage.
In a typical week at work, you may:
- Coordinate and deliver subjects, including overseas subjects and other student mobility programs
- Produce research outputs including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, books, creative works and commissioned reports
- Supervise graduate research
About You
You are an academic with experience in course coordination, as well as, experience in the supervision of honours and postgraduate degree by coursework theses. Your strong record in research and developing publication profile, and experience attracting research grants will see you succeed in this position.
Ideally, you will further have:
- A completed PhD in a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated specialisation in media and communications, with particular expertise in marketing communications
- Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching both media and marketing communications subjects including the capacity to initiate course development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

About the Role
The Administration and Finance Officer is a key part of the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health professional staff team with a focus on providing effective and systematic administrative support that enables the School to operate as efficiently as possible. Key responsibilities include supporting the timely and efficient management of resources, particularly analysing and processing financial matters; supporting related human resources issues; and other general administration across the School.
In a typical week at work, you may:
- Provide accurate and timely advice to School staff on administrative and resourcing matters, including interpreting University, Faculty and School policy and procedures. (e.g. on management of purchasing cards, FBT, travel).
- Work with Centres and the School in implementing School support processes and managing financial transactions, including liaison with central finance and employee Services and other University support areas.
- Implement and monitor systems for recording key School information to optimise efficiency, such as use of Independent Contractor Agreements and space allocation.
This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to further develop their administrative career in a generalist role supporting a broad range of stakeholders and make a valuable contribution to improving School operations.
About You
You will be a customer-centric and solutions-focused individual with strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships. You will have the initiative and proactive nature necessary to work independently along with strong teamwork skills to conduct work as part of a group.
Ideally, you will further have:
- Completion of a tertiary qualification and subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Strong financial management and analysis skills, including the demonstrated ability to undertake complex account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high quality administration support services (e.g. coordinating financial, human resources, and physical resources)
- High level of proficiency in the use of software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
