About Us
Established in 2006, Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service (BWAHS) provides a range of services and programs to Aboriginal individuals and families who are experiencing, at risk of experiencing family violence, or use violence. Currently BWAHS is one of 4 Aboriginal specific state funded healing services in Victoria.
BWAHS has skilled qualified staff and comprehensive experience with culturally safe delivery of child, youth and family services for Aboriginal people. They provide family violence risk assessment, safety planning, case coordination and support including referrals to the Risk Assessment Management Panel. They have developed an excellent record for providing high quality family violence and trauma informed Intensive Case Management, Integrated Family Services responses and evidence-based therapeutic programs to individuals and groups for a whole of family approach.
Boorndawan Willam, derives from the Wathaurong and Woiwurrung languages. Boorndawan (Wathaurong) meaning ‘safe’ and Willam (Woiwurrung) meaning ‘house’, combine to create a ‘safe house’. The healing service acknowledges the use of these words in the development of the organisations name.

What you'll do
BWAHS now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Child & Youth Program Coordinator to join their team in Croydon, VIC,
Reporting to the Practice and Development Manager, your main responsibility will be to coordinate the development and delivery of educative, healing, therapeutic and cultural programs to Aboriginal Community members impacted by Family Violence at Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Services covering the Eastern Metropolitan region.
Core duties include (but are not limited to):
- Building partnerships with other relevant service providers to ensure increased access to programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, women, children, youth and families;
- Engaging and consulting with cultural leaders and family violence experts in the development and delivery of Aboriginal cultural healing programs;
- Coordinating programs and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, women and children who are impacted by family violence; and
- Maintaining records including case notes, reports, plans and statistics within required timelines including data and reports required to meet BWAHS contractual obligations;

What we want from you!
To be successful in this role, you will to be a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of contemporary Aboriginal culture and the history of intergenerational trauma. You will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, problem-solve, and coordinate a variety of programs.
You will need to have proven experience working in indigenous community services, family violence or a related area. You will also need to have demonstrated understanding and comprehension of the issues underpinning family violence, particularly as it relates to the cultural context of women, children, and their families within the Aboriginal Community.
In this role, you will be required to supervise and coordinate the various programs offered by BWAHS. You will need to have the understanding and ability to work independently and as part of a team and have demonstrated experience in project management and the delivery of programs. Tertiary qualifications in social work, education, etc)., are highly desirable, although not required.
Please note: You will need to have a current Victorian Driver’s Licence, basic first aid certificate or be willing to obtain it and have completed a national police check and a working with children’s check.

About the role:
The Academic Fellow (Art and Computer Science) is a joint appointment between Department of Museums & Collections (M&C) and School of Computing and Information Systems (CIS), in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) and will report to the Deputy Dean Engagement (FEIT) and Associate Director Science and Academic Programs (M&C).
This exciting role leads and delivers a world-class program that embeds digital innovation within M&C and weaves artistic creativity into CIS/FEIT’s teaching and research programs, connecting these teaching and research programs with M&C flagship initiatives (Science Gallery Melbourne and Grainger Museum) and leads new teaching and research opportunities that highlight the significance of the connection between art and computer science. The Academic Fellow will also contribute to research translation and public discourse concerning art and computing.
The successful incumbent will:
- Develop a world-leading vision that profiles the nexus of arts, engineering and computing and strengthens the interplay between CIS/FEIT and M&C
- Develop a FEIT/CIS business plan that leverage existing capabilities and recommend changes to existing programs and structures by identifying gaps, needs and resources
- Collaboratively design, deliver and evaluate projects that focus on art and computer science, with key public engagement research outcomes within M&C exhibitions and public programs
- Contribute to the development of engagement between CIS/FEIT and M&C, including First Nations-led opportunities
About You:
You have experience as an established or emerging artist and/or creative practitioner, and a portfolio of work, including developing and delivering interactive digital installations in public environments. You are a strong communicator with the ability to mobilising support from internal and external networks, in particular within the science, arts and media communities.
Ideally, you will further have:
- A postgraduate qualification or relevant experience in art and computing, digital environments and/or interdisciplinary practice
- Experience in developing and delivering art and computing programs that enable interdisciplinary engagement across university faculties (involving staff and students) and partnerships with industry and creative practitioners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to structure, present information clearly, report on project outcomes, preparing technical briefs and strategy documents
- Proven ability to plan, prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines

About the Role
A Research Assistant is required to work within the Virtual Reality (VR) Team at Orygen, across a number of exciting virtual reality-based health projects funded by a grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term position available for 12 months.
The role will focus primarily on the small studies described below, but may also include other related projects within the VR team as recruitment priorities change.

This position will involve the recruitment of young people for research trials including completing clinical research assessments and interviews.
About You
Essential to this role is that you will have a postgraduate degree (Honours, Masters or doctoral degree) in the behavioural or social sciences and/or related discipline, with subsequent experience. In addition, you will bring:
- Demonstrated ability to conduct recruitment and assessments within populations of young people with mental ill-health.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, including authorship of academic reports.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, particularly a demonstrated ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) and work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to use word processing, electronic medical and psychological search engines and databases, and reference management software (e.g. Endnote).
