Deakin’s Faculty of Health is recognised in Australia and internationally for its teaching, training, research and service to its communities. Working as part the School of Health and Social Development (HSD), the Lecturer, Indigenous Curriculum will work with team members in the School to embed Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander knowledges into curricula. Specifically, the lecturer will support academics to build the understanding and capability of pre-service health professionals in relation to unique Indigenous health issues; building capability to develop understanding and cultural responsiveness to provide appropriate health services to Indigenous Australians; and contributing cross-critical connections to Indigenous Knowledges.
The successful applicant will guide the development of teaching and learning materials and resources that are culturally appropriate to Australian First Nations People for incorporation into the School’s diverse suite of teaching programs. The appointee will also promote and support the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry, professional and community organisations, especially those providing health and social support to Aboriginal People in the south and western regions of Victoria.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership within the School of HSD that is consistent with the University’s principles of teaching, learning and the student experience
- Work with HSD team members to embed Indigenous Knowledges into HSD curricula
- Work with the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Innovation, NIKERI and the GLO8 team
- Work in partnership with other departments and teams within Deakin University
- Provide training and support to HSD academics and professional staff
- Develop learning resources that support academics to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges into their teaching and learning activities
- Foster teaching and learning practices that are flexible, student centred and accessible, utilising appropriate technology
- Participate with colleagues in developing and maintaining links and partnerships with industry and the wider community
- Undertake appropriate administrative tasks
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum development and design
- Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- PhD (or equivalent) or Masters in a relevant field *desirable
- Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications *desirable
- Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching *desirable

About the Organisation
The Central Land Council (CLC) is the Commonwealth Government statutory authority for the southern half of the Northern Territory – covering an area of almost 770,000 square kilometres. We consist of 90 elected Aboriginal representatives from the communities within CLC's nine regions and an additional 260 staff, approximately half of whom are Aboriginal.
Together we are responsible for providing a range of services for the benefit of traditional owners and other Aboriginal residents of the CLC region, including:
- Providing a strong voice for the Aboriginal people of Central Australia;
- Helping Aboriginal people get back country and manage their land, protecting Aboriginal culture and sacred sites;
- Consulting with landowners on mining activity, employment, development and other land-use proposals;

Your New Role
As our newest Human Resources Advisor, you will perform a range of human resources functions, with an emphasis on recruitment and HR administration.
This is a busy and diverse role, where no two days will look the same. You will manage a portfolio of internal clients right through Central Australia, advising and managing their HR needs.
You will also get the opportunity to travel periodically throughout Central Australia. You will spend most of your time in Alice Springs, but you will travel remotely to conduct inspections or coordinate training. You may also have the opportunity to travel to complete HR training to help you enhance your skills.
Core duties:
- Recruitment: Coordinate recruitment activities (end to end process)
- Onboarding: Coordinate and facilitate mainstream new employee/induction and onboarding processes.
- HR Partnering: With guidance from the HR Coordinator, work with allocated sections to provide employee life cycle support, employee contract management and performance management actions, including disciplinary processes.
- HR Advice: Liase with managers across the organisation to ensure alignment of HR practices with regulatory, legislative and organisational requirements. Provide advice and support to employees, including policy and procedure application, EA, performance management, grievances and complaints handling.
