It is one of Australia's oldest and largest faculties with approximately 400 staff and 8000 students engaged in over 900 subjects in more than 40 areas of study.
As part of the Faculty’s vision of “recognising and engaging the ways of knowing held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, on whose land we work”, the faculty wishes to appoint an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholar to the new role of Associate Dean (Indigenous). The appointee will devote 0.5 of their time to leadership activities as Associate Dean, and 0.5 to research and teaching in their domain of expertise. 
The Associate Dean (Indigenous) reports directly to the Dean and is a member of the Faculty Executive. Working closely and collaboratively with the Dean, Deputy Dean and other members of Faculty Executive, the Associate Dean (Indigenous) actively contributes to implementing the Faculty’s Strategy 2019–2025. This includes reconciling, redressing and aligning the Faculty’s core purpose, policies and outputs to Indigenous values and aspirations and developing and implementing the Faculty’s Indigenous Development Plan.
The Associate Dean (Indigenous) will provide Faculty-wide Indigenous leadership, as well as promote the integration of Indigenous-aligned values throughout all policies. The appointee will be a well-respected Indigenous scholar and an experienced academic leader with vision, capacity and interpersonal skills and be excited by the opportunity this role provides.
