The work we do
These positions are Identified which signifies that the roles may have direct involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. There are a number of vacancies.
Candidates will be required to:
APS 4
- Assist in managing stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
- Assist in providing policy advice and managing contracts.
- Assist in project and program management.
- Contribute to community engagement.
- Contribute to maintaining close working relationships with other Commonwealth Government agencies, and State/Territory Government agencies to influence policy outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Actively work with team members to deliver effective outcomes.
APS 5
- Provide high-quality advice on issues impacting on Indigenous affairs.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with key Indigenous organisations and government advisory bodies.
- Collaborate across the Agency, including offices around Australia to ensure advice to the Minister and NIAA Executive is well developed, cohesive, and appropriately informed by experience in place.
- Contribute to project and program management.
- Build strong ties with community engagement.
- Have strong leadership skills including the ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
APS 6
- Provide high-quality advice on issues impacting on Indigenous affairs.
- Be responsive and possess a strong desire to develop, lead and implement a broad range of projects making a positive impact at NIAA.
- Contribute to project and program management.
- Build strong ties with community engagement.
- Demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and bring experience, strategic thinking and innovative ideas to improve policy, practice and workplace performance.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation skills with a range of stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will be passionate about better understanding the key issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and you will have:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Capacity to negotiate, motivate, influence, and build relationships.
- Agility and ability to contribute to development of a broad range of projects.
- Demonstrated ability to self-direct and bring your experience, strategic thinking and innovative ideas to improve policy, practice and workplace performance.
- Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver quality work.
Eligibility:
The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.
