About Museums and Collections

A new Museums and Collections Department has been established to ensure coordination and alignment with University objectives. The Department is responsible for Buxton Contemporary, Science Gallery Melbourne, Ian Potter Museum of Art, Old Quadrangle Treasury, and the Grainger Museum.

The aim of the Department is to build a collaborative and flexible network around the University’s cultural assets so students, staff members local and global communities gain knowledge and understanding of contemporary and traditional cultures, scientific discovery and creative practice.

About the role

As the Project Manager – Exhibitions, you will be a member of the Operations team and work alongside colleagues to plan and deliver an annual program of exhibitions and events and provide project and operational services that support and enable Cultural Commons strategic objectives.

You will facilitate and manage project teams and oversee the implementation of systems and processes that will ensure effective and efficient outcomes.

About you

You are self-motivated and can respond and adapt in a fast-changing diverse environment with enthusiasm. You are a collaborative person that works well within a team, showing care and respect for colleagues.

You will have:

  • Tertiary degree or qualification in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Extensive project management skills and knowledge of production methodologies in a museums and collections context, demonstrating ability to anticipate and manage potential and emerging issues to ensure delivery of project objectives
  • Significant experience in budget planning, management and evaluation
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and communicate detailed logistical and technical information
