About the role: 

This maternity cover opportunity is ideal for an experienced project manager to undertake a key role within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts team. This position will manage the identification, planning, delivery and evaluation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts projects in the achievement of the Australia Council's strategic and corporate objectives.

What will you be doing?

  • Identify project opportunities that align with the Council's Strategic and Corporate plans by engaging with a range of stakeholder in First Nations arts and culture and the broader Australian arts sector.
  • Provide reports that evaluate and analyse sector and industry issues and strengthen First Nations arts and culture.
  • Engage with state/territory and local funding agencies to gain collaboration on proposed First Nations arts and culture projects.

What will you need to succeed?

  • An in-depth knowledge of First Nations arts and culture, with proven ability and understanding of Indigenous protocols to establish credibility with stakeholders
  • Highly developed project management skills attained through progressive ownership; with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders, coordinate project teams, manage project risks and communicate issues
  • Established professional networks within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts sector and industry, with a proven ability to influence and encourage collaboration in the pursuit of organisational goals
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills, to rapidly build credibility with internal and external stakeholders (logical, sequential and succinct)
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally to meet with key external stakeholders, including remote locations

The commencing salary for this position is $95,789 per annum + 9.5% superannuation
