ABOUT THE ROLE

The Elder Abuse Service is a Commonwealth funded service in Legal Aid NSW’s Gosford office. The service is funded for 3 years to June 2022.

The service provides legal assistance and social interventions to older clients on the Central Coast who are at risk of or experiencing elder abuse, and is expanding services to the Lower Hunter area. The service has social workers and lawyers working together to support older clients and has a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait clients.

The Project Officer will provide assistance, coordination and support in the delivery of the Legal Aid wide Elder Abuse Strategy that identifies actions to improve the identification and response to elder abuse in the community and internally across Legal Aid NSW.

The Project Officer will identify and work with key stakeholders in the Lower Hunter area to promote the expansion of the service, develop and deliver training materials and support the creation of new referral pathways to the service.
