Salary: $66,809 – $90,657 p.a. (PhD entry level is A.6 $84,458) plus 9.5% superannuation
Located in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, this position is based in the applied mathematics group of Professor John Sader, and involves close collaboration with the group of Professor Paul Mulvaney in the School of Chemistry.
You will focus on exploring the capabilities of mass spectrometry using nanoelectromechanical systems. Of particular interest is the coupled mechanical behaviour of the devices under the influence of mass loading, chemical changes and environmental effects. You will be responsible for mathematical investigations of the technology, which are expected to drive new experimental studies. As such, this ARC Discovery funded project between the University of Melbourne, California Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology is highly collaborative with cross-fertilisation between theory and experiment.
This project is associated with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science and will draw on the infrastructure of that Centre.
