About You and the Project

The Victorian Government has recently funded the Clean Energy Lab as part of the Circular Economy and Climate Resilience Platform. The Clean Energy Lab led by Prof Brendan McGrath aims to research innovative renewable energy technologies and their interactions with the electricity grid. The scope of research encompasses solid-state energy conversion, storage systems, photovoltaic generation, power system integration and energy data analytics.

As the Research Fellow, you will collaborate with the Circular Economy and Climate Resilience Platform chief investigator Prof Usha Iyer-Raniga and will be responsible for planning and conducting field-specific and multi-disciplinary research programs and for research translation and impact components, which will be designed in collaboration with the industry. In addition, you will be embedding research expertise into the life of the School through the development of high-quality, productivity-driven research networks across RMIT and with local and national, internal and external partners.

As the Senior Research Fellow, you will lead aspects of the research, participating in widely across projects in the Circular Economy and Climate Resilience Platform as well as manage post-doctoral and early career researchers, liaise with industry partners and will coordinate with other elements of the platform within and beyond RMIT. In addition, you will manage the key deliverables of the Clean Energy Living Lab, including milestones, post-doctoral and early career researchers; project budgets; and research outputs and regularly publish research results in high-quality outlets as lead author and in collaboration with other researchers.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* PhD equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field

* Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links

* Depth of knowledge of power electronic conversion systems, power systems, energy analytics, storage technologies and related electrical engineering domains

* Ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates

* Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects

* Strong interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry.

In addition to the above, to be successful for level C appointment you will have:

* Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets

* Experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes

* Experience in delivering research projects in collaboration with industry, government and/or non-government organisations, in fields relevant to this research project

* Strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

* PhD or equivalent in relevant field

* Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check
