As a result, we now seek to appoint a passionate and influential Senior Change and Communications Manager to join our specialist Assurance Group

The Assurance Group sits within our Strategy, Innovation and Assurance (SIA) team within Business Services.  We lead improvement of cross-functional IT management disciplines/practices. We are also responsible for the development and oversight of methods to proactively monitor IT performance and risks, and adherence to established policies, processes, and standards. We help assure that IT products and services are delivering value to our customers and stakeholders. 

SIA is responsible for functions such as:

  • IT strategy 
  • Enterprise architecture 
  • Innovation incubation 
  • Governance and assurance 
  • Performance management and the definition of IT ways of working 

What will I do? 

You will help to provide leadership of cross-functional IT management across Business Services, and the University, ensuring we 'do the right work' through strategy and innovation and 'do the work right' through governance, organizational and operational model development and performance management.  

In this role, you'll be responsible for the design, development and execution of change and communications management activities and deliverables in support of the Assurance Group specific initiatives. You'll also provide general support for the SIA function at both a strategic and tactical level, and for the broader Business Services IT organisation.  

Working with a high degree of delegated responsibility and authority, you will consult with a wide range of stakeholders across the University to achieve objectives. In a typical week at work, you may: 

  • Assist with development and implementation of proven and contemporary IT management, governance, assurance best practice models, processes and methodologies, including associated performance management metrics/methods to ensure the IT organisation delivers value to the enterprise 
  • Lead development and maturation of the cross-domain Change Management practice, including associated Community of Practice (CoP) activities 
  • Engage with stakeholders in the change management context, delivering change management support, including training and communications 
  • Develop and implement the Assurance Group Change Management Strategy and relevant plans to drive positive acceptance and adoption of change in the context of the Assurance Group’s initiatives 
  • Provide leadership and input into the effectiveness of Change Management methodologies and strategies 
  • Contribute to the development, maturation, and promotion of the Assurance function and its value contribution within and beyond Business Services IT 

About You 

Your experience will allow you to easily switch between strategy and leading the delivery of agreed outcomes. You will be a natural leader, with excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.  

Your demonstrated ability to convey information in an effective way will support you in building rapport with key stakeholders. You'll enjoy solving problems and be ready to exercise sound judgement in a wide range of change-management scenarios. 

Ideally, you will further have: 

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline with significant experience in a project Change Management environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Change Management certifications will be highly regarded 
  • Sound understanding of Change Management and Project Management methodologies and their application, with extensive experience in assessing Change Readiness and evaluating Change Initiatives 
  • The ability to build consensus and influence in negotiations across a broad audience
