About You
Within your team, you act as a specialist, leading projects and advising other staff. You will have a degree in Library and Information Services or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. You will have strong experience in a library acquisitions environment, preferably with the Alma Library System. You will be a problem solver with a highly analytical mind. You are passionate about your work and knowledgeable about broader trends in library collections work.
Position Summary
The role of Senior Librarian, Monographs and Digital Collections deals with the management and purchase of materials in all formats. This role includes undertaking work of a higher degree of complexity such as problem solving or researching and piloting new workflows. This role supports the Senior Coordinator in leading projects, training staff, and knowledge sharing.
The role may also be required to work across the Library on projects and programs of work.
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
* Degree in Library and Information Services or equivalent with at least 4 years relevant experience is essential.
* Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is desirable.
* Well-developed knowledge of using automated Library systems for acquisitions, electronic resources, and analysis, preferably using the Alma Library System. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, FTP and software packages used to manipulate bibliographic and associated records. Strong skills in using Excel to manipulate large data sets.
* Demonstrated problem solving skills, including critical analysis and evaluation of process and emerging practice
* Proven record of adopting a flexible approach to work and adapting to a constantly changing work environment.
* Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communications skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrated focus on providing an excellent customer experience.
* Proven experience in the management of metadata using current industry description standards. and schemas for Library resources in all formats, preferably in an academic library and understanding of relevant data formats and data migration relevant to Library Collections.
* Demonstrated strength in identifying opportunities for improvement focussing on team goals.

The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT learner experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the learner experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.

RMIT University Library is a creative partner in the achievement of RMIT University's teaching, learning and research goals. It engages with other groups within the University to design initiatives that have a positive impact on the student experience including the provision of direct support, advice and guidance for students' academic skill development. It provides resources, services and facilities to support the information needs of RMIT's large and globally distributed student and staff population and supplies expertise for the management of the University's archives and business information.
In order to support the goals and operations of the University the Library is arranged into 4 main functional areas: Learning; Teaching and Research; Collections and Library Operations. The Library increasingly delivers collections and services online to maximize access by the RMIT user population.
At RMIT Melbourne, the University Library operates from 4 different locations: the Swanston Library; the Bundoora Library; the Carlton Library and Brunswick Library. At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports the 6,000 students from 2 locations: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. They provide flexible, networked spaces for individual and group study, computer equipped group study rooms and seminar rooms for academic and library research skills training.
