ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful applicant will be an experienced senior criminal lawyer with an interest in working with people from a disadvantaged background.

ABOUT YOU

Provide legal advice and representation to clients of legal Aid NSW, including in more complex matters, in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policies and guidelines in order to contribute to the implementation of Legal Aid NSW’s mission to deliver high quality legal services to our clients and to assist them to resolve their legal problems. Supervise and lead junior legal staff in achieving this aim.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW

• Ability to provide a valid Practising Certificate upon commencement 

• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check

• Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid working visa 

• Hold a current Driver’s License

  1. Outline your experience in criminal law and your capacity to undertake more complex criminal matters

 

  1. Outline your skills and ability to lead, manage and supervise lawyers and/or other staff in a team environment.

 

  1. Why are you interested in appearing for clients in the Eastern NSW (South) Nowra and Wollongong regions?

The selection process will include a range of comparative assessment techniques to assist in determining capability and suitability for the role.

This recruitment will be used to fill any current vacancies and may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future Ongoing and Temporary vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months in the Eastern NSW (South) regions – Nowra and Wollongong.
