Salary: $69,148- $93,830 (Level A) (pro rata) or $98,775 – $117,290 (Level B) (pro rata), plus 17% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.
The Department of Rural Health (DRH) is based in Shepparton, but also conducts its activities in Ballarat, Wangaratta and many other locations. The Department’s funding comes predominately from Department of Health and Ageing, through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/rural-health-multidisciplinary-training-programme-framework and includes , the ‘Rural Clinical School (RCS) program’ and the ‘University Department of Rural Health program’, as well as several other smaller programs. The Department also provides clinical education in a rural environment in other professional disciplines in the Faculty (particularly Dental Science and Physiotherapy).
The Rural Health Academic Network (RHAN) encompasses towns in the Hume and Loddon-Mallee, including Shepparton, Echuca, Benalla, Moira Shire, and Wangaratta. Each centre contributes, in both a research and teaching capacity, to the academic network. The “hub and spoke” network, is a key activity of the Department of Rural Health.
This appointee will be based locally at Albury Wodonga Health Service (spoke organisation) to undertake RHAN activities, as part of a collaborative network of people at Albury Wodonga Health Service and the DRH. The key activities will include:
- Promote evidence-based and reflective practice and support re-thinking of clinical practice through innovative service development and improvement.
- Support multidisciplinary health student placement
- Support local health practitioners through education, training and development
- Research into rural health workforce, rural chronic illness and culture and rural health.
