About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Youth Worker on a permanent full time basis. You will provide high quality, flexible support with a focus on enhancing the lives of children and young people in the Out of Home Care program in our Beenleigh region. You will be required to think creatively to plan and implement youth work programs for the children and young people you support.
Please note: Our Youth Program runs a 24/7 roster model which including sleepovers, weekend and public holiday shift requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a team based environment to facilitate delivery of quality services to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in a foster care setting.
- Plan and implement Programs for children and young people.
- You will contribute to the development and implementation of a range of individual, therapeutic, recreational or skills-development activities that are consistent with and supportive of the care plans developed for each child.
- In conjunction with the Case Manager provide support on complex cases.
- You will required to practice from a therapeutic/non-punitive framework.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum Certificate IV in a relevant child welfare or child wellbeing field.
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one and unrestricted drivers licence
- Demonstrated experience in providing a creative and flexible approach to people with individual needs
- Demonstrated experience implementing Individual client care plan goals
- Commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.
- Willingness to work within the philosophy of the Life Without Barriers organisation
Desirable
- Previous TCI training/understanding
- Knowledge of CARE framework
- Understanding of trauma informed practices.
- Use of Microsoft Office packages
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
