UGL provides end-to-end outsourced engineering, construction, asset management and maintenance services with a diversified end-market exposure across the core sectors of Rail, Transport & Technology systems, Engineering and Construction and Asset Services. 
 
UGL Limited is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Rail & Defence division based at Craigieburn (MTM Depot). 
 
The purpose of this role is to perform trade related technical tasks that support the overhaul activities for rolling stock and associated sub-assemblies.
 
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To perform trade related tasks such as installation and fit out of mechanical equipment, operating various machinery and cranes, liaising with various internal departments to ensure on-time delivery of project schedules.
  • Ensure active involvement in Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Undertake relevant enterprise training as nominated.
  • Complete allocated tasks to the agreed work schedule.
  • Raise relevant work issues to area supervision and management.
  • Participate in work area improvement activities
  • Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Leading Hand/Supervisor.  
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 
  • Certificate III in Engineering  (Mechanical Trade) 
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands. 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson to join us on this exciting Project. This position will be a fixed term until October 2017 with possible extension and will be based at Craigieburn (MTM Depot).
