The Opportunity:
The Business Operations Branch within the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is responsible for property, physical security and business continuity. The team is looking for an experienced senior security professional to join our dynamic environment. You will exercise a considerable degree of independence to deliver results and lead initiatives that strengthen NIAA’s security posture and overall security maturity.
Accountable to the Director, Business Operations, you will:
lead and manage a team of motivated security advisers to deliver customer service and sound security advice to staff at all levels;
lead the development of security governance frameworks and operational support strategies that enhance the agency’s security maturity and posture, and enable business operations;
lead initiatives through continuous improvement that enhance security processes and demonstrate the agency’s compliance against whole-of-government security policies;
lead and deliver on complex security projects;
liaise with Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Security Team and Shared Services Branch to manage personnel security shared services under the NIAA / PM&C Memorandum of Understanding;
prepare and deliver executive briefings, training packages, security reports and annual security maturity reporting under the Protective Security Policy Framework;
manage financial / procurement arrangements for security guard services;
collaboratively work with your peers to support property and business continuity activities to ensure the section remains responsive to all emergency business needs.
Our Ideal Candidates:
The successful applicant will have a well-rounded knowledge of the application of the Protective Security Policy Framework in Commonwealth operations. This should include information security, physical security, personnel security and risk management.
We are looking for a highly experienced and self-motivated security professional who can demonstrate:
superior leadership and people management experience, preferably within a government security environment;
a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service;
building and maintaining effective working relationships;
well-developed written and oral communication skills;
experience in developing organisational wide frameworks, policies and procedures.
Experience in a similar leadership role and having security and risk management qualifications are highly desirable.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
