A Community-controlled Organisation Providing Holistic Health Care Services

Established in 1995, Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. We also work with several governments, practical medical delivery organisations and the wider community to provide a comprehensive range of innovative public health programs.

Our organisation comprises an energetic, enthusiastic and highly motivated team of people-oriented professionals who are dedicated to providing quality health care to Indigenous communities in the region.

We are now looking for a Chief Executive Officer to further our growth and establish DAHS as a health care service provider of choice to Indigenous communities in the region.

An Opportunity with a Difference

This is a unique opportunity for you to work in a Community-Controlled organisation, where the community members drive the business of DAHS through their membership. As CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading an ongoing and improved Aboriginal community control of health services for Aboriginal people in the Derby community and surrounding areas.

More specifically, your day-to-day duties will be in the following key areas:

  • Strategic planning;
  • Operations management;
  • Finance;
  • Leadership; and
  • Relationship building and management.

Lead a team of passionate individuals

You will be a highly empathetic and compassionate individual who listens to concerns and challenges of the business and community with no judgement and understanding. You will also have a strong understanding of balancing financial and strategic growth.

To be successful in this role, you will also have experience working with a large and diverse Board of directors and have a demonstrated ability to balance the need for strategic innovation with operational and organisational stability. 

You will develop and maintain effective relationships with community members, governments agencies and practical medical delivery organisations. As such, you will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Moreover, you will have a high level of personal and professional integrity in business, professional relationships and financial matters.

For this role, you will receive a highly attractive base salary circa $195,000 PLUS super and have access to fantastic benefits, such as:
