About You

The Senior Manager, Research Contracts provides specialist contracts expertise, advice and education/coaching in the negotiation and execution of research contracts as part of the Research Services team. The role will drive a strong service culture in progressing research contracts by managing the review, draft, negotiation and execution of agreements. The role is required to ensure agreements comply with all applicable legislation and RMIT policies and to safeguard the interests of both the University and researchers. The role will develop a strong partnership with Legal Services on complex contractual matters and to mitigate potential risks.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

* Highly developed leadership skills including the capacity to develop, lead and manage a team to deliver high quality services in a complex and dynamic environment.
* Experience and high-level understanding of contract/legal/IP issues, strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to resolve issues and provide high level advice on these matters to senior Executives.
* Significant experience in the planning, negotiation, development and review of contractual agreements to ensure RMIT University's interests are protected.
* Proven ability in the analysis of performance data and preparing reports addressing progress against a variety of key performance indicators as related to Institutional strategy.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, with experience in providing technical advice to a diverse range of staff with a variety of levels of understanding.
* Demonstrate a significant level of attention to detail, organisational management and understanding of and compliance to complex internal and external policy and procedures.
* Proven ability to build strong networks and relationships to influence effective program outcomes.
* Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values, leadership capabilities and professional capability framework.
