About the Role

The Lecturer in French Studies will coordinate and teach in the undergraduate program of French Studies in the School of Languages and Linguistics, with an emphasis on the advanced core language and culture subjects, and specialised elective subjects. An ability to teach and assess subjects in French is essential.

This position is offered as an ‘Melbourne Early Career Academic Fellowship’ (MECAF) and in this position staff will be expected to engage in a self-directed research programme which will be developed with the support of the staff’s supervisor and will include appropriate training, career and professional development opportunities and academic supervision.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and seminars
  • Participate in teaching into collaborative subjects within the French and European Studies program and the School of Languages and Linguistics as appropriate
  • Undertake Subject coordination and delivery in French Studies
  • Contribute to development of technology-based teaching, learning and assessment programs and resources
  • Submit applications for research grants and external research income (emphasis on competitive, international and peer-reviewed)

About You

You will possess well-established academic skills and strong academic performance. To be eligible for the Melbourne Early Career Academic Fellowship, applicants must demonstrate the following conditions:

  • less than three years post PhD experience (which may be extended due to career interruption); and
  • not previously held a Continuing academic position with a tertiary education institution. 

Ideally, you will further have:

  • demonstrated specialisation in French and/or Francophone Studies
  • native or near-native competency in French and English
  • demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching French language and culture in both French and English
  • flexibility to teach at all levels from A1 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and in a range of delivery modes – on-campus, blended, and online
  • demonstrated skills in mentoring and supporting students

About the role

About the role

As a Teacher Instrumentation/Electrical, you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in selected courses in the School.

Participation in the School's continuing reviews of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students' assessment will also form part of this role. You will interact with external organisations, industry groups and RMIT teaching and administration staff. Your performance will be underpinned by participation in relevant activities which ensure your vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

1. Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
2. Skills and experience in competency-based assessment and ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
4. Experience in relevant industry (Instrumentation/Electrical field), and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
5. The capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions.
6. The ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

You must meet minimum qualifications as per the current Enterprise Agreement and current regulatory requirements for the VET sector, which include vocational competency at the level being delivered or above, vocational currency and industry currency.

The appointee must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package as a minimum qualification. This consists of 10 units (7 core and 3 electives).

You will be required to have currency and experience in instrumentation and hold a Electrical A Grade licence for this position – you will not be interviewed if you do not have this plus the Certificate IV Training and Assessment

The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the ATSI Act and subject to the PGPA Act. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and freshwater country.
ILSC Agribusiness is a specialised unit of the ILSC that focuses on the development and management of commercial agribusiness investments on Indigenous land in partnership with Indigenous people. ILSC Agribusiness currently operates agricultural businesses, including beef cattle, fine-wool merino sheep, a community-based meatworks and a cattle export depot.

Roebuck Export Depot is a live export depot in the Kimberly Region of WA. This facility has the capacity to process 17,444 head and is utilised by exporters and livestock agents to prepare cattle for live export markets as well as handling transit cattle for the domestic markets. The facility operates under strict environmental and animal welfare standards and holds animal welfare in the highest regard. Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Administration Manager will deliver administration, finance and customer service for the Roebuck Export Depot.

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the Administration Manager will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the Export Depot. You will be responsible for providing the following:

  • Provide leadership and assist with appropriate governance whilst overseeing accountable best practice in management of budgetary, financial matters, overall policies and associated practices.
  • Liaise with the Depot Manager and Livestock manager to ensure that weight summary finalising and sending, consignments, and charges are completed to the highest level of accuracy.
  • Process incoming and outgoing invoices daily
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the Traceability and Compliance Officer.
  • Liaise with stock agents and transporters to ensure all details of cattle are recorded accurately.
  • Ensure that the electronic recording of all transactions and activities are completed to the highest level of accuracy.
  • Have a clear understanding of and animal welfare requirements.

The preferred applicant will be engaged initially until 31 December 2022 with Primary Partners Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ILSC.

About You

Ideally, you will further have:

  • A completed PhD or other equivalent degree in International Relations or a closely related discipline

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate subjects, including curriculum development, subject design and delivery
  • Demonstrated capacity for high quality teaching in political science / international relations

The Traceability and Compliance Officer role will administer traceability and compliance of all cattle movements into and out of the Roebuck Export Depot. Roebuck Export Depot is a live export depot in the Kimberly Region of WA. This facility has the capacity to process 17,444 head and is utilised by exporters and livestock agents to prepare cattle for live export markets as well as handling transit cattle for the domestic markets. The facility operates under strict environmental and animal welfare standards and holds animal welfare in the highest regard.
Reporting to the Administration Manager and in liaison with the Livestock Manager, the Traceability and Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing the following:

  • Assist in all aspects of yard work – receiving, loading, drafting and weighing of cattle.
  • Administration of NLIS data of all incoming and outgoing cattle including the NLIS list/file with all relevant information as required by an exporter before departure of a shipment.
  • Pen sheet reconciliation.
  • Checking on ownership changes and update custom feed program accordingly.
  • Ensure that all documentation and records are completed to the highest level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for conducting cattle tick Dip Clearing and ensuring all relevant documentation is completed with Ag Dept. inspector.
  • Operate cattle weighbridge and issue all relevant documentation for cattle sales.
  • Provide leadership and contribute to the provision of a safe working and team environment for employees, contractors and customers.

The Indigenous Studies Program within the School of Culture and Communication seeks to appoint a Senior Tutor (Teaching Specialist) with the capacity to teach in the area of the introductory Indigenous Studies with a solid understanding of contemporary global Indigenous scholarship. As a Teaching Specialist in the position of Senior Tutor, the appointee’s primary responsibility will be coordinating and teaching in the area of introductory subjects in Indigenous Studies.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Undertake subject coordination duties including the development of Learning Management System sites and subject guides, the management of assessment extension request and the selection and supervision of sessional tutors (if relevant)
  • Conduct lectures/seminars/tutorials in the required mode
  • Prepare assessments in accordance with subject guidelines in the University Handbook and coordinate assessment processes

About You

You will have strong organisation skills, allowing you to completing competing tasks at a high quality to various deadlines. Your solid written and verbal communication skills will aid you in communicating with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, as well as being able to contribute to a broad and supportive team environment. A thorough understanding of Work Integrated Learning and experiential learning theories is desirable for this role.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Completion of a Doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise
  • Demonstrated experience of teaching diverse groups of students at tertiary level in a range of delivery modes
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum and subject material development

About the Role

SHAPS was formed in 2011 and comprises the programs of History, History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy, Classics and Archaeology, the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, and the Program in Jewish Culture and Society. The School brings together a lively and engaging program of teaching and research that offers a wide variety of courses and subjects.

The Asia Institute is the University of Melbourne’s key centre for studies in Asian languages and cultures. About the role

The Associate Director, Planning and Performance will be responsible for the provision of high-level advice and executive support to the College of Vocational Education Operations function. This will include providing strategic advice on specific initiatives, supporting the achievement of the portfolio's strategic and annual planning process. The role will have oversight of key College wide activities that drive the success of the College, providing project leadership, thought leadership and status updates to the College Executive. The role will work alongside other senior leaders in enablement functions to operationalise key activities throughout the year. This may include synthesis of information, data analysis and developing papers and responses to both internal and external audiences.

The role will be required to brief the General Manager, College Operations and Executives on any follow up actions arising from meetings and committees as required and will be expected to represent the College at broader RMIT working groups and ensure that the College of VE has a voice in decision making processes.

About You

To be successful in this position, you'll have the following:

1. Extensive experience in providing high-level strategic, analytical and operational support at Senior Leader or Executive level.

2. Experience in a position requiring strong influencing, interpersonal and negotiation skills at senior levels to achieve desired outcomes.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience in developing presentations, reports and briefing notes to a high standard.

4. Highly developed organizational, analytical and future oriented approach with evidence of managing complex issues.

5. Proven ability to work with minimal guidance, in a collaborative team environment and with a strong understanding of matrix structures.

6. Highly motivated and pro-active with a proven track record of successful financial management, change management, quality management and project management.

7. The ability to prioritise tasks and work in a pressured environment requiring flexibility and collaborative decision making to achieve deadlines.

8. A high level of computer literacy, including ability to manipulate data and develop visual dashboards
