About the Role
The Tutor in Theatre is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of a conservatoire based curriculum encompassing voice and movement development, acting for stage and screen, directing, writing, dramaturgy and theatre making. The appointee will be a respected professional, possibly in the early stages of an academic career, as well as a discipline advocate with the vision and capacity to contribute to teaching, learning and research within VCA Theatre. Knowledge of Australasian traditions in stage and screen, reinforced by forward thinking contemporary training practices are essential characteristics of the appointee. The successful candidate is expected to promote artistic research and teaching partnerships and collaboration within the Faculty, University and external organisations at state and national levels.  The incumbent will contribute to teaching excellence within VCA Theatre at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, and maintain involvement in the development and delivery of a high-quality teaching program.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Preparation and delivery of lectures, workshops and seminars at undergraduate and postgraduate coursework level
  • Contribute to the artistic research programs of the VCA and be actively involved in professional activity
  • Participate and provide leadership in the professional arts sector, particularly in relation to professional practice and research in Performing Arts

About You
You will have active artistic practice, engagement and/or ongoing research in one (or more) of the following areas, voice studies, movement studies, acting for stage and screen, writing for performance, directing and dramaturgy, theatre making. You will be experienced and able to design and deliver quality curricula for contemporary arts practice in theatre.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Demonstrated capacity to design and deliver curricula for contemporary arts practice in theatre with experience in at least one of the following: voice studies, movement studies, acting for stage and screen, writing for performance, directing and dramaturgy, theatre making
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to contribute to the engagement activities of Theatre, such as effective liaison with external networks to foster collaborative partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal skills, recognising and respecting diversity and personal differences

About the Role
The School seeks to appoint a fixed-term Subject Coordinator (Teaching Associate – part-time teaching only) with the capacity to teach in the area of Creative Writing. The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging educator.

In this position, your primary responsibility will be the coordination of teaching activities such as lectures and seminars/tutorials and the preparation and delivery of these classes CWRI30014 ‘Advanced Screenwriting’ semester 1 and CWRI20009 ‘Writing for Screen’ in semester 2 in accordance with the Faculty’s Local Operating Rules. The Subject Coordinator reports to the Head of the Program.

This is part-time teaching only position.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • undertake subject coordination duties including the development of LMS sites and subject guides, the management of assessment extension request and the selection and supervision of sessional tutors, as required  
  • prepare assessments in accordance with subject guidelines and coordinate assessment processes 
  • undertake consultation with students
  • manage breaches of academic integrity referred by tutors   
  • resolve student issues referred by tutors or escalate to the relevant Head of Program 
  • conduct lectures, seminars/tutorials in a blended mode to a high standard    

About You
A confident communicator with strong attention to detail, you will have a strong customer service focus and the ability to take initiative and work flexibly in a changing environment. A natural rapport builder, you will have the ability to work as a collaborative team member with the capacity to develop and maintain productive working relationships.

Ideally, you will further have:

About the Role
A Research Assistant is required to work within the Virtual Reality (VR) Team at Orygen, across a number of exciting virtual reality-based health projects funded by a grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council. This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term position available for 12 months.

The role will focus primarily on the small studies described below, but may also include other related projects within the VR team as recruitment priorities change.

About You

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct recruitment and assessments within populations of young people with mental ill-health.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, including authorship of academic reports.

The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) Legal Services Branch provides the full suite of government legal services to the NIAA. Our services include provision of legal advice on a range of corporate law, commercial law, and public law matters, development of legislation, management of litigation, and procurement of specialist legal advice when necessary.

We are seeking to recruit at least one talented lawyer to join our practice as an APS 6 Lawyer in one of the following teams:

  • The Corporate Law Team advises on a range of NIAA matters, including on information law (we are responsible for coordination of NIAA FOI matters), intellectual property, employment law, Public Interest Disclosure, procurements, MoUs, contracts, and finance law.
  • The Commercial Law Team also advises on a range of NIAA matters, predominantly related to commercial law, statutory interpretation, legislation development and litigation arising in relation to grant and procurement arrangements.
  • The Land and Public Law Team assists with the development and interpretation of legislation, litigation, land and leasing, Indigenous land rights and native title, drafting of legal instruments, appointments, delegations, administrative law and lawful decision making, assistance with developing legal frameworks to implement policy proposals and regulatory and criminal law.

About You

As the Technical Officer – Health Biosciences (Biochemistry), you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of laboratories and workspaces, mainly the Biochemistry teaching laboratory and support teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories and workspaces.

You will ensure consumable levels are well maintained and provide prompt support to stakeholders when ordering or obtaining materials. This role will also see you providing expert technical advice and training of equipment/instruments and inductions to users of the space, as well as develop and maintain documentation including, but not limited to: SOP's, risk assessments and chemical registers.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

* Proven knowledge and experience working within a laboratory setting, preferably in a Biochemistry research or teaching laboratory or Clinical Biochemistry laboratory;
* Proven knowledge and experience in Molecular Biology, chromatography techniques including size exclusion chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, and affinity chromatography and experience in performing kinetic assays would be highly favoured.
* Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance and training on equipment or instruments related to a Biochemistry laboratory including plate readers, spectrophotometers and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC);
* An understanding of OH&S requirements within the space;
* Ability to learn new systems and effectively manage competing and fluctuating priorities
* Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including academics and students;
* Great interpersonal skills including being friendly, sociable and passionate about your work.

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator – Health Biosciences, the Technical Officer will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of the Biochemistry teaching laboratories and workspaces, and provide support to teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories and workspaces.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice to users of the spaces and ensure designated areas are running effectively and safely, in compliance with legislative requirements and RMIT policies and procedures.

The incumbent may be required to coordinate operations in one or more spaces

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance, and training of various forms of equipment or instruments related to designated space.
* Proven knowledge and experience working within a laboratory setting of a relative scientific area or field.
* Proven laboratory operations and maintenance experience preferably in a teaching or research environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.
* Proven initiative and problem-solving skills, highly organised and the ability to work autonomously
* Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in crossfunctional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of working in accordance to the RMIT value statements or similar frameworks in other organisations.

About the role:

The Academic Fellow (Art and Computer Science) is a joint appointment between Department of Museums & Collections (M&C) and School of Computing and Information Systems (CIS), in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) and will report to the Deputy Dean Engagement (FEIT) and Associate Director Science and Academic Programs (M&C).

This exciting role leads and delivers a world-class program that embeds digital innovation within M&C and weaves artistic creativity into CIS/FEIT’s teaching and research programs, connecting these teaching and research programs with M&C flagship initiatives (Science Gallery Melbourne and Grainger Museum) and leads new teaching and research opportunities that highlight the significance of the connection between art and computer science. The Academic Fellow will also contribute to research translation and public discourse concerning art and computing.

The successful incumbent will:

  • Develop a world-leading vision that profiles the nexus of arts, engineering and computing and strengthens the interplay between CIS/FEIT and M&C
  • Develop a FEIT/CIS business plan that leverage existing capabilities and recommend changes to existing programs and structures by identifying gaps, needs and resources
  • Collaboratively design, deliver and evaluate projects that focus on art and computer science, with key public engagement research outcomes within M&C exhibitions and public programs
  • Contribute to the development of engagement between CIS/FEIT and M&C, including First Nations-led opportunities

About You:

You have experience as an established or emerging artist and/or creative practitioner, and a portfolio of work, including developing and delivering interactive digital installations in public environments. You are a strong communicator with the ability to mobilising support from internal and external networks, in particular within the science, arts and media communities. 

Ideally, you will further have:

  • A postgraduate qualification or relevant experience in art and computing, digital environments and/or interdisciplinary practice
  • Experience in developing and delivering art and computing programs that enable interdisciplinary engagement across university faculties (involving staff and students) and partnerships with industry and creative practitioners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to structure, present information clearly, report on project outcomes, preparing technical briefs and strategy documents
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines

To be considered for this position, you must have:

* Can demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively and credibly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to ensure that their views are incorporated into health service planning, development and implementation.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
