Your Role
The Culture & People Development Branch has a number of roles that will be focused on either Indigenous strategic policy development, stakeholder engagement, communication and project delivery. This will include promoting cultural awareness and marketing of key Indigenous activities and events across the Department.
These roles are newly established positions within the Branch. We operate through co-design practices, where stakeholder engagement is the core of our business processes. Innovation and the ability to drive engagements with a range of internal and external stakeholders and organisations will be required to enable strategic policy development and implementation across the enterprise. The Branch is seeking team players who have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, are capable, flexible, resilient, and results oriented with a passion for driving cultural change.
About our Team
The role of the Defence People Group is fundamentally about supporting Defence Capability. We deliver the people capability required to operate and support Defence equipment and systems, and to manage the business of Defence.
The Defence People Group delivers high quality human resource outcomes across the Defence employment cycle from strategy and policy development, through to implementation and service delivery. We enable Defence capability and support the Defence Mission through a collectively held people vision.
In order to deliver capability through people, Defence People Group is focused on:
- Recruiting and retaining the workforce we need to deliver Defence capability;

ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide senior management and leadership in the provision of family law services to socially and economically disadvantaged people in accordance with the Legal Aid NSW Plan and the Family Law Division Business Plan. This includes directly providing legal services to clients of Legal Aid NSW, including in more complex matters.

We are looking for an experienced solicitor with an ability to undertake and supervise complex litigation in Family Law and Care & Protection law. You also have strong management experience to ensure effective leadership and management of staff within a legal environment.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Legal Qualifications
• Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
• Ability to provide a valid Practising Certificate upon commencement
• Willingness to undertake a Criminal Record Check and/or working with Children Check
• Holding Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Resident is an essential criterion for ongoing vacancies. Candidates who hold a valid working visa can be considered for future temporary vacancies if being placed onto the talent pool.

About the Role
As a tutor in the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) program, you will provide one-on-one support to Fellows and be an important part of our decolonial and evidence-based approach to effective teaching and learning that privileges Indigenous knowledges and methodologies. Hosted by the University of Melbourne, the AFSE Fellowship experience comprises a year-long module-based program, followed by participation as a Senior Fellow in the global Atlantic Insitute community.
In a typical week at work, you may:
- Identify key areas of a Fellow’s academic support needs
- Provide comprehensive and expert advice to fellows on the subject and/or course requirements of the subject/s they are receiving tuition in
- Introduce fellows to the underlying principles of those subjects and discipline/s
- Support fellows to develop skills in reading and writing for academic (subject and discipline specific) purposes at the required level
About You
You will be highly developed in organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have a demonstrated understanding or ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of Indigenous issues in higher education.
Ideally, you will further have:
- Postgraduate qualification, with demonstrated high-level academic achievement
- Experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring students at a tertiary level, experience teaching at the University of Melbourne will be highly regarded
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or Māori people in a teaching and learning context
