ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Elder Abuse Service is a Commonwealth funded service in Legal Aid NSW’s Gosford office. The service is funded for 3 years to June 2022.

 

The service provides legal assistance and social interventions to older clients on the Central Coast who are at risk of or experiencing elder abuse, and is expanding services to the Lower Hunter area. The service has social workers and lawyers working together to support older clients and has a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait clients.

 

The Project Officer will provide assistance, coordination and support in the delivery of the Legal Aid wide Elder Abuse Strategy that identifies actions to improve the identification and response to elder abuse in the community and internally across Legal Aid NSW.

 

The Project Officer will identify and work with key stakeholders in the Lower Hunter area to promote the expansion of the service, develop and deliver training materials and support the creation of new referral pathways to the service.

Program Manager QLD

The Cathy Freeman Foundation works with 1600 Indigenous children and their families across four remote Indigenous communities in Queensland (Palm Island and Woorabinda) and the Northern Territory (Wurrumiyanga and Galiwin’ku).

Cathy Freeman Foundation is committed to providing child safe and protected environments in all its activities and programs and has a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse or exploitation. Children have the right to be safe and protected.

Reporting to the Programs Director, we are seeking a full time Program Manager QLD on a 12 month fixed term contract (with possibility of extension). This role can either be based out of our Melbourne Head Office or remotely from Cairns.

The Program Manager QLD role is responsible for overall management of Cathy Freeman Foundation programs, offices and staff across the partner communities in Queensland. Working to a program management cycle, the purpose of this role is to ensure that Cathy Freeman Foundation programs are delivered to best practice community development standards and with an education focus in each community.

Responsible for leading community consultation and developing and maintaining key community partnerships and relationships, the Program Manager QLD will manage Program Coordinators and Program Officers to implement programs in community. They also develop community office capacity and manage all aspects of specific Cathy Freeman Foundation programs, from design and implementation, to budget management, data collection, monitoring and reporting.

This role includes significant interstate travel if based in Melbourne, or intrastate travel if based in Cairns.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management & Leadership

• Line management of all community-based staff

• Oversee recruitment, professional development, and performance management of all community-based staff

• Support all community-based staff to build their performance capacity through coaching and on-job training

• Provide managerial support to Senior Program Coordinators and Program Coordinators in the managing of casual staff

• Communicate daily with all community-based teams

• Work with Program Coordinators and Senior Program Coordinator to develop work programs and schedules

• Provide leadership to all staff in relation to the implementation of Cathy Freeman Foundation organisational policies and procedures

Program Implementation

• Work with Program Director to adapt and evaluate the CFF suite of programs in alignment with the strategic plan

• Provide support and leadership to community-based staff in the preparation and delivery of community events

• Build capability within community-based staff to understand the scope and sequence of Starting Block workbook content

• Support community-based staff in the development of CFF programs as required

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

• Establish and maintain community and stakeholder networks within each community

• Maintain and foster key working relationships and facilitate open communication with all community stakeholders and program partners

• Represent CFF in community forums and events

• Develop a calendar of community forums and events for community-based staff to attend

• Initiate and coordinate stakeholder meetings in community to establish shared understandings of each other’s goals and expectations

Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Develop ways of working that enable community-based staff to collect relevant data

• Oversee the daily collection and upload of monitoring data in all communities by Program Coordinators

• Collate and submit quarterly reports to Programs Director within the timelines negotiated

• Build capacity in community-based staff to capture the impact of CFF programs in reporting documents.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain high levels of communication and collaboration with Program Director

• Provide a positive contribution to the leadership team through participation in planning, team meetings and workplace discussions

• Lead by example, demonstrating a way of working that fulfils the expectations of the Cathy Freeman Foundation values and ethics

• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the CFF Program Director or CEO

• Managing and developing relevant community and program budgets

Organisational Responsibilities

About the opportunity
We are seeking an Indigenous Engagement Assistant to provide engagement and support to the research and promotion activities of the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use.
 
Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • build rapport and establish relationships with stakeholders and community groups including Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations, Aboriginal Medical Services, schools and peak organisations in the mental health and substance use area
  • provide knowledge and assistance to the research team to support engagement with stakeholders and communities along with the promotion of resources and coordination of outreach activities both on and off campus
  • contribute to and support Indigenous research projects in the development, preparation and delivery of research projects involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • assist with development of electronic, paper, and information resources, including e-newsletters, web updates and social media for subscribers, study participants and other audiences
  • assist with preparation of progress reports, social media and promotional campaigns, manuscripts for publication, and other forms of promotion.

 
About you
To be successful in this role, you:

  • have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures, including an understanding of the issues affecting people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • willingness to develop knowledge and understanding of complex information in the research field of substance use and mental health issues
  • have certificate qualifications and relevant work experience, which may be in public health, alcohol and drug sector, psychology, behavioural sciences, project administration, health administration, health service provision or promotion or equivalent
  • can work both independently and as part of a research team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • have excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
  • previous experience in the Alcohol and other drug sector, with research studies, online interventions and/or illicit drugs education, or social media would be well regarded.

About the Role

The Project Coordinator (Learning Technologies) is responsible for both administrative and project coordination functions for a range of global Learning Technology and Digital Experience initiatives across RMIT. About You

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Experience in a similar role (3 – 4 years), with knowledge of, and experience in an Agile organisation (e.g., SCRUMban);
* Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with staff at various organisational levels and to work cooperatively as a member of a team;
* Experience with project management software, with experience in the Atlassian suite of tools considered highly advantageous;
* The ability to coordinate projects for large clients with established governance processes;
* Knowledge and experience working with Learning Management Systems (preferably Canvas) and other learning technologies;
* Experience working with WCAG AA 2.1 as part of online delivery, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

About the role

The Associate Director, Planning and Performance will be responsible for the provision of high-level advice and executive support to the College of Vocational Education Operations function. 1. Extensive experience in providing high-level strategic, analytical and operational support at Senior Leader or Executive level.

2. Experience in a position requiring strong influencing, interpersonal and negotiation skills at senior levels to achieve desired outcomes.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience in developing presentations, reports and briefing notes to a high standard.

About the role

As the Research Assistant will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy. It is expected that you will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as your skills and experience develop. This role will require you to:

* Conduct research activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team including publishing and presenting research outputs at conferences and research forums;

* Contributing to external research funding submissions and participating in supervision of higher degree by research candidates.

* Engaging in a project supported by industry on optimisation of behind the meter demand response in commercial and industrial customers

* Undertake limited teaching and supervision at undergraduate levels as required

* Undertake administration related to the position

To be successful for this role, you will have:

* Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field

* Excellent background in electrical engineering and power system analysis; this project requires assessment of requirements for backup generator synchronisation with the grid

* Good background in working with data, e.g. electricity consumption data

* Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners

* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.

* Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

Mandatory: Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or similar and have completed or about to complete their PhD.

About You

As the Technical Officer – Health Biosciences (Biochemistry), you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of laboratories and workspaces, mainly the Biochemistry teaching laboratory and support teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories and workspaces.

You will ensure consumable levels are well maintained and provide prompt support to stakeholders when ordering or obtaining materials. This role will also see you providing expert technical advice and training of equipment/instruments and inductions to users of the space, as well as develop and maintain documentation including, but not limited to: SOP's, risk assessments and chemical registers.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

* Proven knowledge and experience working within a laboratory setting, preferably in a Biochemistry research or teaching laboratory or Clinical Biochemistry laboratory;
* Proven knowledge and experience in Molecular Biology, chromatography techniques including size exclusion chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, and affinity chromatography and experience in performing kinetic assays would be highly favoured.
* Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance and training on equipment or instruments related to a Biochemistry laboratory including plate readers, spectrophotometers and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC);
* An understanding of OH&S requirements within the space;
* Ability to learn new systems and effectively manage competing and fluctuating priorities
* Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including academics and students;
* Great interpersonal skills including being friendly, sociable and passionate about your work.

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator – Health Biosciences, the Technical Officer will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of the Biochemistry teaching laboratories and workspaces, and provide support to teaching and research activities within STEM laboratories and workspaces.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice to users of the spaces and ensure designated areas are running effectively and safely, in compliance with legislative requirements and RMIT policies and procedures.

The incumbent may be required to coordinate operations in one or more spaces

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Experience and knowledge in the routine operation, maintenance, and training of various forms of equipment or instruments related to designated space.
* Proven knowledge and experience working within a laboratory setting of a relative scientific area or field.
* Proven laboratory operations and maintenance experience preferably in a teaching or research environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.

As a Program Coordinator – Aged Care & Disability, you will coordinate teaching resources, provide student support in the relevant VE cluster and organise processes and activities in assisting staff in updating teaching materials and contextualising to specific cohorts as required. Furthermore, you will support the Program Manager in ensuring programs meet regulatory compliance and quality requirements, manage students at risk, and assist with timetables and staff inductions as required.

As directed by the Program Manager, the Coordinator will provide well-being support to students, manage learning plans, and successfully connect with professionals from various VE clusters and service areas and external organisations. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the course's vocational competency is provided, assessed, and maintained.

Your strong communication and interpersonal skills and your experience in teaching, working with students and coordinating administrative processes will ensure your success in this role.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Minimum qualifications as per the current Enterprise Agreement and current VET sector regulatory requirements, including vocational competency, vocational currency, and industry currency. This includes a Diploma of Vocational Education or equivalent.

* Mandatory current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

* Educational leadership skills that effectively promote teaching and learning.

* Understanding of the students at risk process, special consideration process and equivalent learning and assessment strategies.

* Evidence of using effective, innovative and flexible teaching methods and teaching experience in the related cluster.

* Skills and expertise in competency-based assessment.

* Qualifications and experience in the aged care, disability and/or community services area and significant current knowledge of the sector.

* Sound knowledge and understanding of the vocational education and training sector and the training requirements of relevant industries related to Quality Assurance processes for TESQA and ASQA in compliance with programs.
