The Role

Due to recent award of a long-term maintenance contract with BHP, Broadspectrum is seeking an experienced HSE Lead to join our team. Requirements

  • As a result, we seek to employ people who will succeed in this role and who will likely have:
  • Hold Tertiary HSE qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of aScience (HSE) or Post Graduate studies with a related bachelor’s degree).
  • Experience providing advice and assistance to support Project/Contract Managers and our frontline teams to ensure the effective implementation of the Operating Excellence HSE systems.
  • High level of experience in the development and implementation of HSE Management & Improvement Plans
  • Ability to develop Risk Assessments (JSA/SWMS) and verify critical control effectiveness.
  • Prior exposure to risk-based incident investigations (Ideally ICAM)
  • Experience on-boarding and managing sub-contractors from a HSE perspective. 
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience working on a mine site / heavy industrial environment
  • Strong analytical skills.

The School of Computing & Information Systems

The School of Computing & Information Systems (CIS) undertakes research and teaching across a range of information technology disciplines including Software Engineering, Information Systems, and Computer Science. The original Department of Computer Science was founded in 1955, making it one of the oldest in the world .CIS offers a comprehensive range of IT courses at all levels, including offerings in science, engineering, and business, and is at the forefront of computing research in Australia and internationally with close links to major computing research initiatives, including Melbourne Bioinformatics, IBM Research, and CSIRO’s DATA61.

Position Summary

This position has been created to provide academic leadership around our Optimisation activities and to foster new research opportunities in the School of Computing and information Systems (CIS). Further aspects of the role are to strengthen relationships with Melbourne Connect and its key research partners, other University groups, and external research organisations and industry partners.

The University of Melbourne has strong and growing activity in digital and data science across all academic divisions and has nationally leading computing infrastructure and data analytics capability. Specific academic initiatives include, but are not limited to, Al and digital ethics, Al assurance and autonomy, cybersecurity, data science, digital health, clinical and health informatics, and digital humanities.

Melbourne Connect (MC) is a major initiative that aligns with the University's strategic intent of greater enterprise engagement for enhanced research translation and impact. Current activity is focused  on  a number  of  parallel  and  inter-dependent  workstreams:  infrastructure  planning  and  development  work ongoing engagement with government and industry partners to build research and innovation  partnerships and secure tenancies; and delivery of an ‘activation’ program  of curated  events, activities and exhibitions to enhance interactions between the University academic staff, Melbourne Connect precinct tenants, and the wider community.

The Role

Broadspectrum is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Administrator. The positions will see you based at Bandiana Military Base, in a permanent full-time position within our Defence Base Services contract. The role is predominately administration based however stores work will be required from time to time. Your strong administration background and outstanding customer service skills will enable your success in this position. 

 

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Database & inventory management using SAP-based MILIS (Military Integrated Logistics Information System) system.
  • High volume, repetitive data entry for stock takes, entering received delivery slips, requisitions and invoices.
  • Conduct stores tasks, including account management and stock takes
  • Assist in the unloading of goods and checking them against order forms
  • Managing tools and equipment within the Supply Customer Account/s on the Commonwealth Mandated Information System
  • Manage stores function in accordance with Defence Electronic Supply Chain Manual, including scheduling

 

Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years previous experience as a Data Entry / Administration role, ideally within a Stores / Warehousing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with stores/warehousing accounting or commercial equivalent
  • Well-developed computer skills in Microsoft, MILIS and Defence Systems is highly desirable
  • You must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1. As a result of this requirement, to be successful you must be an Australian Citizen.

The Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) is an Indigenous-led social change mid-career fellowship program established at the University of Melbourne in 2016 and funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies. Informed by Indigenous perspectives and grounded in Indigenous community engagement, the program is designed to support social change leaders and collaborative leadership. AFSE is one of seven Atlantic Fellows Programs around the world, supported by Atlantic Institute at Oxford University. 

The University seeks an Executive Director who will be responsible for the overall management of AFSE, and who brings a depth and breadth of Indigenous knowledge, and experience working with Indigenous people and communities. Leading and coordinating the Program and Team, the Executive Director will guide the development and implementation of strategic, operational and fiscal planning and delivery of the AFSE Program.

This is a broad and exciting role with responsibilities ranging from the development, delivery and regular review of curricula for the Program, to oversight of the Program’s administration, fiscal integrity and reporting requirements to ensure the sustainability of AFSE over the next 20 years and beyond.  In addition, the ED will create a supportive environment for AFSE staff, and bring exemplary communication and stakeholder engagement skills to the role.

The Executive Director will maintain strong relationships across the University, with AFSE Fellows and Senior Fellows, AFSE Program partners, The Atlantic Philanthropies, Atlantic Institute, the University’s Indigenous Knowledge Institute and the broader network of Atlantic Fellows programs globally. They will lead the AFSE team in actively engaging communities of Indigenous knowledge holders (at a local, regional and global level), government, industry, philanthropic organisations, not-for-profits and academics.

Our Ideal Candidate
 
We are looking for motivated individuals who have a willingness to learn about people, processes and client service. For APS5 roles, experience in HR or policy is desirable, as well as a good understanding of HR-related issues, legislation and Australian Public Service (APS) employment frameworks.

Our ideal candidates will have a positive and proactive attitude and have the ability to pick up new processes, systems and knowledge quickly. They must be able to manage time effectively and be resilient, responsive and flexible. You will have the ability to practice good judgement, are solutions focussed curious and are able to work under direction from your manager.

You will have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, which will allow you to provide a high level of client service and engage effectively with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority. With guidance from your team, you will also be able to understand and engage with the priorities and operating environment of the Department and the broader APS to contribute strategically to People Branch and wider organisational strategies. Key responsibilities of the roles at each classification are detailed below:

APS4

  • Undertake administrative support and operational tasks with a good understanding of HR solutions, in line with APS legislation and best practice.
  • Assist team members in the development of policies, procedures and strategies to support the focus of People Branch and the broader Department under the direction of your manager.
  • Assist team members in the coordination of operational, strategic and project work under the direction of your manager.
  • Contribute to ideas that support ways to improve our service offering.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, on moderately complex operational and administrative matters, through the provision of timely advice and support.

APS5

  • Assist in the development of policies, procedures and strategies to support the focus of People Branch and the broader Department.
  • Provide reasonable, practical HR solutions, in line with APS legislation and best practice.
  • Assist in the coordination of operational, strategic and project work under the direction of your manager.
  • Proactively identify and implement ways to improve our service offering.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including through the timely and accurate provision of advice and support.
  • As required, you will support your managers to draft reports, briefs and updates for the Departmental executive.

 As this is an Identified Position, our ideal candidates will have a base level of understanding of and ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. For candidates with limited knowledge of and limited experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, you will need to demonstrate a commitment to learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culture and history.
