The Industries Coordinator manages the Parklea Correctional Centre’s industries operations and inmate employment programmes.
The role oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of the Centre’s industries, with a strict adherence to WH&S in an industrial environment being critical.

Primary responsibilities:
•    Ensures that operational, health and welfare standards are met in the prison industry.
•    Participates in activities to maximise the attendance of inmates employed in Prison Industries and Skills Development programs.
•    Maintain the prisoner gratuity profile and industry effectiveness benchmarks. 
•    Liaises with and advises the Operations Support Manager on all matters in relation to prisoner employment activities within

     the Prison and ensures objectives are met. 
•    Ensures the continued training of Industries staff.
•    Seeks opportunities for improved sustainability within the prison.
•    Ensures continuing probity with audits / records of all industries activities.
•    Ensures the employment component of the inmate’s constructive day is met. 
•    Develops relationships and liaises and communicates with internal and external stakeholders, including the

      procurement of community agreements, partnerships and work-related contracts.
•    Contributes to the development of strategic, operational and business plans for Parklea CC.
•    Actively participate in cultivating a culture of safety, security and decency throughout the Centre
•    Contributes to a positive and innovative organisational culture within the Prison that is responsive to change. 
•    Cooperate and communicate effectively and in a pro-social manner with other staff members, inmates, visitors and

      other stakeholders
•    Engage and drive continuous improvement by exhibiting pro-active thinking, accepting accountability,

     documenting information, and contributing ideas and innovations to improve performance
•    Promote a diverse, inclusive and fair work environment
•    Create and keep full and accurate records of work-related activities, transactions and decisions
•    Ensure that safety and risk awareness are paramount when undertaking all duties

Experience:
•    Demonstrated previous experience in coordinating support services in a manufacturing environment and

      working in a correctional environment are desirable.

Qualifications:
•    Must obtain appropriate security clearances from New South Wales Police and Correctional Services New South Wales
•    Must meet the physical requirements of the role and pass a functional fitness and health assessment; due to the demands

      of the role, applicants who consume alcohol excessively, abuse prescription drugs or consume illicit substances are unsuitable
•    Must obtain and maintain a First Aid accreditation in the form of a current Statement of Attainment for HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

The role:
The successful candidate will work full-time starting 1st June 20 based in Townsville for the Defence Maintenance & Support Services Team. As an Industrial Painter Blaster you perform all trade related tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of LCM8 marine crafts and associated equipment. This includes but is not limited to abrasive blast clean, spray application of protective coatings, paint inspection and preparation of Job Analysis worksheets.

Duties:

• Conducting maintenance tasks for which you are competent and qualified. This may include:
  • prepare surfaces to be painted by hand or machine
  • mix and match paint by eye or by computer technology to ensure correct colour match
  • apply primer and finishing coats using spray guns and rub down surfaces between coats
  • touch up paintwork
  • remove masking papers before finished paintwork
  • paint signs or artwork craft/equipment
• Investigate materiel defects and reporting on unsatisfactory materiel, and drafting reports
• Operating plant and machinery as required and provided by the Commonwealth to perform maintenance tasks
• Maintaining housekeeping of workshop areas
• Performing additional work related responsibilities as directed by supervisors such as first aid attendant, safety committee representative, unit fire team representative and or member of a business improvement team.
• Correct storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and associated waste.
• Comply with Broadspectrum Risk Management, Quality Assurance and Health, Safety and Environment management systems, including statutory obligations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Relevant Trade qualification (Cert III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or equivalent) or significant On-The-Job (OJT) experience in Marine/Mining/LNG
• Basic knowledge of use and removal of Hazardous Material.
• Basic understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
• Current Drivers Licence.
• Be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
• Must be an Australian Citizen.

Reporting to the Senior Contract Manager an opportunity has become available for a Performance Improvement Manager- Responsive Maintenance Works role to drive best practice across NSW Landing & Housing AMS Contract to ensure the Responsive Budget is within target. This role requires analytical experience in a large volume and reporting environment with strong experience in also change management.

The responsibilities of the position include:
•    Lead the ongoing improvement of Responsive processes and reconciliations/reporting
•    Further integrate newly engaged robotics project into these processes and help deliver associated reporting/savings in partnership with contract team
•    Continue with the further integration and measurement of Project Iris enhancements ensuring maximum contract savings and client deliverables (Responsive Cost Control reducing exposure to Pain/Gain Model)
•    Work with Management and operational delivery team to integrate any associated reporting – process changes identified into the contract
•    Manage the Team to ensure the audit regime is being followed, appropriate corrective / preventive action is applied and that effectiveness of resolutions is measured.
•    Provide support to staff and subcontractors to ensure that the AMS Maintenance Contract Commercial Model and Work Requirements are adhered to.
•    Collaborate with the Management Team, other contract personnel, client and call centre to assist with the development of appropriate training and education material for staff and subcontractors.  
•    Manage the  trends analysis process to ensure that high-risk and recurring trends  in service delivery are identified and management controls are put in place in coordination with the operations team.
•    Oversight of all compliance investigations as directed by the Senior Contract Manager and ensure timely and accurate reporting is achieved.

The person we are looking for will have:

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS/BEHAVIOURS
•    Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in Finance/Commercial/Analyst/Operations roles 
•    Experience within the construction or facilities management industry preferable

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
•    High Volume/Complex Analytics 
•    Internal Stakeholder management
•    Finance process understanding – strong commercial acumen
•    Ideally contract experience with operational delivery understanding on responsive and planned works programs
•    Understanding of Subcontractor management process
•    High level Excel skills
•    Ability to drive change and influence stakeholders (ie strong personality)
•    Ability to understand complex commercial models 
•    Excellent class problem solving skills, report writing and data analytical skills
•    Experience and ability to give presentations to a varied audience
•    Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
•    Awareness/understanding of safety management systems, standards and legislations as they relate to the construction &/or facilities management industry
•    Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
