The Industries Coordinator manages the Parklea Correctional Centre’s industries operations and inmate employment programmes.
The role oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of the Centre’s industries, with a strict adherence to WH&S in an industrial environment being critical.
Primary responsibilities:
• Ensures that operational, health and welfare standards are met in the prison industry.
• Participates in activities to maximise the attendance of inmates employed in Prison Industries and Skills Development programs.
• Maintain the prisoner gratuity profile and industry effectiveness benchmarks.
• Liaises with and advises the Operations Support Manager on all matters in relation to prisoner employment activities within
the Prison and ensures objectives are met.
• Ensures the continued training of Industries staff.
• Seeks opportunities for improved sustainability within the prison.
• Ensures continuing probity with audits / records of all industries activities.
• Ensures the employment component of the inmate’s constructive day is met.
• Develops relationships and liaises and communicates with internal and external stakeholders, including the
procurement of community agreements, partnerships and work-related contracts.
• Contributes to the development of strategic, operational and business plans for Parklea CC.
• Actively participate in cultivating a culture of safety, security and decency throughout the Centre
• Contributes to a positive and innovative organisational culture within the Prison that is responsive to change.
• Cooperate and communicate effectively and in a pro-social manner with other staff members, inmates, visitors and
other stakeholders
• Engage and drive continuous improvement by exhibiting pro-active thinking, accepting accountability,
documenting information, and contributing ideas and innovations to improve performance
• Promote a diverse, inclusive and fair work environment
• Create and keep full and accurate records of work-related activities, transactions and decisions
• Ensure that safety and risk awareness are paramount when undertaking all duties
Experience:
• Demonstrated previous experience in coordinating support services in a manufacturing environment and
working in a correctional environment are desirable.
Qualifications:
• Must obtain appropriate security clearances from New South Wales Police and Correctional Services New South Wales
• Must meet the physical requirements of the role and pass a functional fitness and health assessment; due to the demands
of the role, applicants who consume alcohol excessively, abuse prescription drugs or consume illicit substances are unsuitable
• Must obtain and maintain a First Aid accreditation in the form of a current Statement of Attainment for HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
