The Role
Lead a team of volunteers and work with staff and managers to build their capability in attracting, engaging and retaining volunteers and members. This will include taking on responsibility for core components of the volunteer management lifecycle, maintain and establish external and internal stakeholder relationships including connecting with peak bodies, councils, other agencies and private sector stakeholders. You will also play an advisory role in one or two of the following specialist portfolios – Membership, Regional Engagement, Youth and Diversity and Inclusion and provide critical thinking, advice and innovative ideas on your area of focus.

About you
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, management and / or working with and supporting volunteers and members is essential. You will also have previous proven experience engaging and supporting programs across Membership, Regional Engagement, Youth and Diversity and Inclusion (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) and ability to think outside the box, sound time management skills and to apply innovation and technology to solutions are required.

About the role

The Senior Collection Development Officer is key in supporting the work of the Collection Development Team Leader by providing excellent customer service and support to the clients of the team. 

The role also assumes primary responsibility for coding credit cards used for the purchase of library materials, the purchase of items in all formats particularly rare and speciality items, the loading of files from vendor databases, allocating work and providing direction to other team members, and assisting with training of other team members in these workflows.

About the role

The Project Officer, Indigenous Strategy is a member of a small team in Civic and Community Engagement providing high level support to the Chancellery Engagement portfolio in the development and management and implementation of the University’s Indigenous strategies.

This is a two-year fixed term position, reporting to the Associate Director, Indigenous Strategy and Social Inclusion. As Project Officer, you will play a key role in the implementation of the University’s strategic Indigenous plans and in managing projects and initiatives to support the equitable participation of Indigenous students.  This includes the University’s third Reconciliation Action Plan April 2018 – December 2022 and a range of Signature Projects.

In this role, you will provide project support to the Associate Director, Indigenous Strategy and Social Inclusion, Director, Civic and Community Engagement, The Associate Director, Murrup Barak, the Assistant Provost (Indigenous Knowledges), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Strategy) and University divisions on the implementation and delivery of Indigenous strategy within the University context.

About you

  • A tertiary degree with relevant program and project management experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to organise and coordinate events, and to craft communications.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with staff in Chancellery, University Services and Academic Divisions across the University.

We are looking to recruit a Youth Worker on a permanent full time basis. About the role

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to actively support the individual needs of frail, aged and people with a disability who access Life Without Barriers Community Care Services. Support Workers work as a team to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with clients in a positive and proactive environment.

The roster for this Permanent Part Time position is mostly Monday to Friday (shifts start as early as 7am), however there may be some weekend work and sleepover shifts from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Housekeeping duties in line with LWB Policies and Procedures such as (but not limited to) dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, emptying bins fridges and freezers, as indicated in the clients care plan
  • Washing clothing including hanging out to dry and folding of clothes
  • Changing of linen as required
  • Assist the client with showering, bathing, eating, grooming and any personal care needs as identified in their Care Plan
  • Assist the client with community access as identified on the clients care plan
  • Assist the client with activities such as (not limited to), shopping, hair dressing, post office and entertainment
  • Administer basic first aid as required
  • Manual handling in line with LWB Policies and Procedures as required

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, or similar, or willingness to complete this within the first two (2) years of employment
  • A current unrestricted drivers licence and reliable vehicle
  • A current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain before commencement
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of clients
  • The ability to develop positive relationships with the clients and to support their individual care plans as appropriate
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including carers, families and advocates)
  • Ability to work within and demonstrate the Life Without Barriers values in all interactions and tasks

JOB TITLE: Cultural Liaison Officer
TEAM: Out Of Home Care (hereafter referred to as OOHC).
LINE MANAGER: Cultural Unit Coordinator
KEY RELATIONSHIPS: The Cultural Liaison Officer will maintain primary relationships with the Regional OOHC Manager, Cultural Unit Coordinator, and all other members of the KARI OOHC team, the children, young people, and birth families as allocated and relevant NSW Community Services child protection teams.
  1. JOB PURPOSE

The Cultural Liaison Officer is an integral member of the OOHC team. As an active member of the Aboriginal community this worker will provide the OOHC team with support in following Aboriginal Placement Principles, locating possible kinship placements for children and young people as well as assisting to identify other cultural opportunities that may provide the child, young person and family with a strong cultural heritage.

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support and advice to OOHC workers, carers and where appropriate birth family in the preparation of the child or young person’s cultural care plan.
  • Assist with the development of a child or young person’s genogram.
  • Attend case conferences to ensure the cultural care plan is integrated into the child or young person’s overall case plan.
  • Assist with the development of strategies to ensure promotion of a child or young person’s cultural identity.
  • Attend relevant meetings as directed to ensure that the Aboriginal Placement Principle is adhered to and the child or young person has every opportunity to live in an environment that promotes their cultural wellbeing.
  • Identify possible kinship connections for children or young people coming into care.
  • Where appropriate complete assessments of kinship placement options during the term of an interim care order, providing the court with a report and recommendations on the best cultural placement for the child or young person.
  • Provide support and advice to other team members in relation to cultural considerations.
  • Attend monthly supervision meetings with your Line Manager and complete the tasks identified at these meetings.  Identify personal learning needs and give feedback on the service including the identification of gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Attend any KARI meetings as requested by your Line Manager.
  • Undertake and participate in regular evaluations of the service and take part in annual appraisals of staff performance and team planning days.
  • Undertake specific tasks allocated by your Line Manager relating to the promotion of the service and the enhancement of the partnership between the team and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment including the ongoing learning of all team members through the sharing of ideas and feedback from training.
  • Advocate for KARI and Aboriginal people, children and young people in the sector.
  • Other duties as directed.
  1. ELIGIBILITY  REQUIREMENTS
  • Aboriginality.
  • Possession of a current NSW Drivers License – minimum P2.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Willingness to undertake a Working with Children Check.

Aboriginal Trainee Environmental Health Officer
