The Sexual Health Promotion Officer directly reports to the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Viruses Program Coordinator and is accountable to the Executive Manager Public Health and CQI. The position is primarily responsible for increasing awareness in prevention and testing for Sexually Transmissible Infections (STI's) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV's), with a particular focus on syphilis in Aboriginal people in Western Australia. In accordance with the Fifth National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander STI and BBV Strategy 2018 – 2022. The incumbent will work closely with the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) Member Services to provide a targeted regional response to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and improve testing rates to reduce the transmission rates of STI's and BBV's among Aboriginal people.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have:

* A relevant qualification in Aboriginal Health, Health Promotion or Public Health or demonstrated experience working in these areas.
* An understanding of continuous quality improvement practices in primary health care.
* Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to develop ideas and opportunities to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
* Knowledge of, or experience in, planning and delivery of health programs for a diverse range of audiences.
* Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
* Knowledge and/or an understanding of the current trends and issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities throughout the state.
* Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* A current Western Australian Working with Children Card.

Ideally, in addition to be above, we are looking for someone who:

* Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
* Has relevant clinical knowledge or demonstrated skills in the assessment and management of complex health needs including blood borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections.
* Has experience working within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector and a strong understanding and commitment to the sectors principles.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Horizons Programs Manager

The Cathy Freeman Foundation works with 1600 Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children and their families across four remote Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities (Palm Island and Woorabinda in Queensland, and Wurrumiyanga and Galiwin’ku in the Northern Territory).

Cathy Freeman Foundation is committed to providing child safe and protected environments in all its activities and programs and has a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse or exploitation. Children have the right to be safe and protected.

Reporting to the Programs Director, we are seeking a full time Horizons Program Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract (with possibility of extension).

The Horizons Program in 2022 will run 8 camps – 3 localised camps (Rockhampton, Townsville, and Nhulunbuy), as well as 5 national camps (Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin, and Brisbane). The Horizons Program gives students from our partner schools an opportunity to join their peers from other partner communities for an intensive and empowering personal development experience in Australian capital cities, as well as local regional cities.

With a focus on engaging with Indigenous role models, building self-efficacy, and exploring post- schooling options, the Horizons program is both educational and aspirational. These week-long trips are shared with around 15 other students who return to their school with a better understanding of the opportunities that are available to them outside of their communities.

The Horizons Program Manager oversees all aspects of the Horizons camps, including:

• pre- and post-camp engagements;

• engaging with stakeholders, including families and communities;

• coordinating and supervising local CFF Programs Coordinators during the planning period;

• implementing the program monitoring and evaluation framework within reporting cycles;

• budget development and expenditure; and

• delivery and supervision of the Horizons camps.

The role will require regular travel and being away for extended periods of time.

About You

About You
As the Personal Assistant, Property Services Team, you will provide high quality support to the DFAM and Property Services Senior Leadership Team (SLT). While you will have primary responsibility for supporting a specific Director, you will also provide support to the wider Property Services SLT. You will also be involved with the RMIT Critical Incident Management Team and associated meetings, planning and resourcing.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

* Experience providing high-level, confidential secretarial and executive support to a senior manager or equivalent in a large and complex organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and strong customer service skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise work and complete projects/tasks to tight timelines.
* High level computer skills, including spreadsheets, databases and the Microsoft Office, with an ability to draft and format written documents and proof read all work.
* Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and prioritise work for self and senior management in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands, including handling sensitive matters.
* Demonstrated evidence of a strong customer focus.
* A high level of initiative and the ability to work with limited direction. The ability to work effectively within a team environment is also critical to this role.
* Ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities paying attention to detail.

About the Group
Property Services is located in the Resources portfolio which is the service nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people development infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the university. Property Services has approximately 120 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of physical Facilities services. The group has an operating budget of over $40M, and prospective capital projects over $100m per annum for the next few years in Melbourne and Vietnam. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 110 buildings in Melbourne spread across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.

About the Role

SHAPS was formed in 2011 and comprises the programs of History, History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy, Classics and Archaeology, the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, and the Program in Jewish Culture and Society. The School brings together a lively and engaging program of teaching and research that offers a wide variety of courses and subjects.

The Asia Institute is the University of Melbourne’s key centre for studies in Asian languages and cultures. Our teaching programs include Arabic, Chinese, Indonesian and Japanese languages, as well as Asian and Islamic Studies. The Asia Institute has close links with other Schools and faculties across the University, and our programs are strongly interdisciplinary in focus.

The School Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the School’s day to day operations.  They work closely with the Head of School to operationalise Faculty and School strategy.

Managing a small team of professional staff, the School Manager works under the broad direction of the Head of School and has professional accountability to the Faculty Executive Director.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the Head of School to enable the delivery of excellent, high impact teaching, research and engagement activity
  • Manage human and financial resources within the School, ensuring sound budget management
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of the School’s strategic and operational plans with the Head of School and School leadership

About You

A true "leader", you will be adept at managing, supporting, and developing a team working across a variety of areas and at different levels. You will be no stranger to making difficult decisions, able to weigh up the likely outcomes and use your superior judgement to select select the way forward. This ability ties in well with your skills at planning, both in the short and long term. 

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Degree level qualification with extensive management experience in the tertiary sector or in another complex organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate and supervise a team of staff, across varying functions and levels
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in the effective management of financial and budgetary operations within the tertiary sector, or a complex organisation
  • A demonstrated ability to implement new procedures and initiatives
