The Opportunity
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide high level secretarial and administrative support services.
This will include being the first point of contact for both internal and external clients noting the initial enquiry and where appropriate referring them to relevant Business Units to action.
The position holder will also provide key administrative and organisational support and will be required to establish and maintain effective and reliable organisational systems.
 
To be successful in this role, the EA to the Executive will need to have:
·         Aboriginality – this is an identified position under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
·         Knowledge and awareness of the cultural practices, values and issues that affect Aboriginal people in today's society.

Job Description

  • Coordinate and provide instruction for numerous classes associated with Broadspectrum and Light City Buses compliance
  • Identify and assess future and current training needs

  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods
  • Conduct periodic trainer and assessor assignment reviews ensuring training is being carried out accurately
  • Work with subject matter experts (SME) to periodically update existing training content to ensure that it is current, accurate and engaging
  • Manage input and update of all learning records within the LMS, producing monthly reports and ad hoc reports to satisfy business needs
  • Able to complete assigned projects within budget and on schedule with all client expectations met, presenting regular updates on project status to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Assign resources to deliver works within quality and regulatory standards, monitor and guide workflow of direct reports, set daily, weekly and long-term project goals

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated achievement and delivery of business plan outcomes, as well as, motivating and managing a team to contribute to team goals and business strategy objectives

Education / Qualifications 

  • Relevant qualifications and industry experience to the equivalent of a Bachelors Degree level, supplemented by strong experience in a management role

  • Office setting with local travel between depot sites – Morphettville, St Agnes and Wingfield
  • Formal supervisory responsibility of two direct reports

The Department of Rural Health strategic objectives include supporting the development, expansion and expertise of the Aboriginal health workforce in northern Victoria.  Currently, the Department of Rural Health is expanding its programs in Aboriginal health in both teaching and research.  The work of the department includes supporting tertiary education of students who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, facilitating training of professionals working in Aboriginal Health and research with community partners.  The focus of this position will be on workforce development in Aboriginal organisations. 

You will concentrate on workforce development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a range of health settings.  This will require consultation with these organisations, facilitating training where appropriate and supporting workforce development as identified by these organisations.  In addition, contribution to other teaching, research and projects at the Department of Rural Health will be required.

The Victorian Bar is currently recruiting a Policy Lawyer. The core strategic purpose of the position is to promote the role of a strong and independent Bar in creating a justice system that is administratively efficient, user-focused and which supports fundamental legal rights, access to justice and the rule of law in line with the Victorian Bar's strategic plan.

This role reports directly to the General Manager, Member Services, and works together with the Victorian Bar Council, Committees, and Bar Associations to identify, develop and coordinate the law reform and legal policy work for the Victorian Bar. 
 

This includes:

  • Developing the Bar's law reform and legal policy positioning to ensure it is coordinated, considered and consistent, by preparing timely legal policy and law reform submissions and by developing enduring relationships with the Bar's key stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the development of strategic initiatives and special projects to:       
    • enhance the Bar's positioning; and
    • provide member support.
  • Developing and delivering educational projects arising from policy and strategy initiatives alongside the Bar's Education team.

Activities related to the Policy Strategic Plan include:

  • Update and maintain the Victorian Bar's Policy Strategic Plan in line with the Strategic Plan
  • Generate and coordinate a program of law reform and policy activity based on an in depth understanding of the State and Federal government and legal industry reform agendas
  • Use and develop submission guidelines and precedents to sustain a coordinated, considered and consistent approach to legal policy development and law reform activity
  • Develop and use internal Bar profile and relationships to assist in the coordination or preparation of written and oral submissions
  • Project manage submissions and the parties contributing to those submissions
  • Provide editorial support and coordinate administrative support for submissions being prepared by the Associations
  • Attend law reform working groups and committee meetings both internal and external to the Bar
  • Be an advocate for and promote the Bar to key stakeholders, aiming to position the Bar as the leading independent provider of policy advice
  • Monitor developments affecting access to justice and legal aid
  • Assist in the development and coordination of strategic initiatives and special projects
  • Monitor developments affecting the profession, such as regulatory changes
  • Assist the Bar's education and knowledge management team with research and development of educational material and CPDs arising from policy and strategy initiatives
  • Provide support to the Indictable Crime Certificate Secretariat
  • Provide support and liaise with the following committees: Indigenous Justice, Equality & Diversity, Indictable Crime Certificate, Pro Bono Committee.
  • Pro Bono Scheme & Duty Barrister scheme: Liaise and supervise the monitoring and execution of the Duty Barrister scheme including liaison with the Courts and providing committee support.

This pivotal leadership role will see you managing all aspects of the shelter to ensure it functions in an effective, efficient and ethical manner.
