Broadspectrum has a long and successful partnership with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and is now expanding due to the renewal and extension of the Base Services contract to manage ADF facilities under the new contract on a national level.

The Role
Due to a recently awarded high profile Defence contract Broadspectrum are currently looking to engage an experienced Housekeeping Clerk. This position will see you based at the Woomera Defence Establishment, in a casual position within the Domestic Services team.  The responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:

  • Managing the room booking and allocation service for all authorised personnel posted, attached to or transiting through the base, including car parks as required
  • Managing any dedicated or allocated computer hardware and software including all primary and supplementary programmes
  • Providing Occupancy Reports by Rank and Block/Room as directed by the Accommodation Manager
  • Providing monthly Occupancy Statistics for both Transit and Living-In rooms as directed by the Accommodation Supervisor
  • Liaising with the Accommodation Manager to ensure that accommodation allocated is appropriate to the member’s rank or status and seek direction in the event of unavailability of appropriate level accommodation
  • Liaising with the Accommodation Manager and seek direction in the event of Officer or SNCO accommodation facilities being fully booked
  • Issuing keys on arrival and collecting keys upon departure
  • Maintaining records of key allocations for all Rooms/Buildings keys and ensure that any Missing/Unaccounted for Keys are investigated and reported immediately to the Accommodation Supervisor
  • Ensuring room inventory and condition reports are completed prior to arrival and upon departure
  • Ensure that all Furnishings, Fittings and Essential Services in accommodation buildings and rooms are operational one working day prior to, and upon, occupancy

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience and the knowledge working within an Administrative and Customer Service environment
  • Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with people from diverse national, cultural and linguistic backgrounds 
  • Strong customer service skills.

Joining our talented group of IT / Comms Advisors, you will be deployed to where you are needed the most whether covering annual leave, R & R, project works or where your skills may be required.

Reporting to the IT / Communications Manager, the Advisors are responsible for the delivery of onsite technical support and maintaining IT and Communication Infrastructure.

 

About the role (includes but not limited to):

  • Maintain existing infrastructure for voice and data services – including first and second level support of client operating systems; desktop equipment; server equipment; and other specialised systems;
  • Providing support to staff – under direction from central IT;
  • Responding in a timely manner to critical incidents affecting IT infrastructure;
  • Assisting in developing and implementing new IT infrastructure;
  • Providing regular updates to management;
  • Updating operational manuals and provide adequate handover documentation.

 

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary or TAFE qualifications in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computing (or related disciplines);
  • Experience with corporate networks and computer systems;
  • Possess a valid Australian State or Territory driver’s licence;
  • Good interpersonal skills.

 

Special Conditions
This is a Fly in Fly Out position that requires flexibility with hours at times to meet the operational requirements of the role.  To be be considered for the role you must have a valid passport that does not expire for at least the next 12 months.  You will also be required to complete an Australian Federal Police check while also completing a pre-employment medical.  Relevant vaccinations in line with Island are also required for the successful candidates.

Located in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, this position is based in the applied mathematics group of Professor John Sader, and involves close collaboration with the group of Professor Paul Mulvaney in the School of Chemistry.

You will focus on exploring the capabilities of mass spectrometry using nanoelectromechanical systems. Of particular interest is the coupled mechanical behaviour of the devices under the influence of mass loading, chemical changes and environmental effects. You will be responsible for mathematical investigations of the technology, which are expected to drive new experimental studies. As such, this ARC Discovery funded project between the University of Melbourne, California Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology is highly collaborative with cross-fertilisation between theory and experiment.

This project is associated with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science and will draw on the infrastructure of that Centre.
